Drag in a miata; even gayer than it sounds

Took the NB up to the drag strip on this lovely hot as fuggghhh day in South Florida. It's my daily driver (so don't give me too much crap!). Certainly nothing impressive but I figured I'd share the video.

60' 2.02
1/8 8.80 @ 79.9
1/4 13.65 @ 101.1

Quote of the day:
"What'd you run?"
"A 13.6"
"What were you driving? A fuckin civic?"

18psi 07-09-2010 12:24 AM

lol..

not bad man. its not slow at all

GregTSi 07-09-2010 12:28 AM

nice times, i tried to drag race mine but it broke. :vash:

thirdgen 07-09-2010 12:49 AM

I'd say that was a good run, dragging a miata isn't that gay...at least you weren't drifting. Any specs you'd like to share? How much boost? What size exhaust? How do you have an MSPNP on a '99?

pdexta 07-09-2010 01:20 AM

It's a GT2560 on 10psi. I've got a racing beat exhaust, I think it's like 2.25 inches or something ghey like that. It's a braineak MS.

Fireindc 07-09-2010 06:47 AM

Nice time for 10psi on a 2560!

NA6C-Guy 07-09-2010 07:02 AM

I don't see anything gay about a 13.6 in a daily driver, Miata at that. I can almost say for sure if I tried to run mine down the track (which would be pointless, since it would probably be sub 16 seconds) it would break on the line.

While on the topic of quick for a daily, my cousin co-daily drives his twin turbo WS6 Trans Am, which makes a touch under 600whp. Talk about passing trucks on the interstate in a hurry. That thing goes 80-140 in probably less time than it takes my car to do 0-60. He says he still sees at or just over 20mpg as long as he keeps his foot out of it, which I can imagine is tough.

Sorry, not meaning to take away anything from your thread, just a thought that popped in my head.

It's not gay to drag race a miata...

...now, if you were drag racing something like a nissan titan on the other hand....

lordrigamus 07-09-2010 12:40 PM

Next time tell them you got 18-20 MPG during the run!:giggle:

johnmatt 07-09-2010 02:20 PM

That's a damn good run for 10psi. Turn it up to 15psi get some sticky tires and you've got yourself a 12sec car

Full_Tilt_Boogie 07-09-2010 02:22 PM

That aint bad at all, if anybody gives you shit you should punch them in the fucking face.
Also, I personally know people with civics that run in the 9s...

*bullet to the brain*

Brain built ms. On an NB. Explain please.

Is it a DIYPNP?

underdog 07-09-2010 03:24 PM

Not gay at all! Good run on my old hometown track, Bradenton Motorsports Park. Damn, I miss it - especially in the land of crappy 1/8mile tracks where I am now. :crx:

cueball1 07-09-2010 05:21 PM

Yeah it's gay. All the other guys driving stock late 80's accords, huge diesel pickups and Bonneville SSE's are straight though. Not sure how that works.
