Default The filthy **** I just picked up for my next project- Triumph TT600

This will be more of a build thread than a show off thread, but who cares.
Its a Triumph TT600.

Just picked it up today.

Mods it has:

Custom paint job (which I'll replace, I don't like it much)
blackout screen
corbin 1 person seat
frame sliders
Micron titanium exhaust
Carbon Fiber passenger delete tail

After my Kawasaki 500R this thing is MONSTROUS up top. Still haven't redlined it

You know after looking at it, you might want to find someone who could be interested in buying your plastics in trade for silver stock ones, or just ones that you could paint. I bet you could get high dollar for those ones from the right buyer.

Ya that would be awesome, but small problem:
The right side fairing is all scratched up in different places.
Big long scratches too.
So I doubt someone would still trade.

its a 1 off custom job done in the bay area. cost close to 3k when it was originally done.

Its definitely been scratched up and scuffed up all over the place tho, unfortunately.

Nice bike! I just sold my Ninja 500ex, and will be picking up a new toy very soon as well. We should have motorcycle picture thread.

Nice bike! Good to hear you're stepping up. The EX500 was a fun bike easily pushed to the limits, but POWER is awesome.

I love the Triumphs, but never rode one of the 4cyls. How's the power come on?

And that paint job is just wack. I'd check out this Scion Tc color I decided I'm painting my next bike (prob the SV) called Flint Mica...photos don't do justice to how great the color is in person.

Definitely.
Though mine isn't quite ready for a full on photoshoot.
I have a ton of work to do still, but nothing major.

Just paint.

Well this thing is the same weight as the 500, so it feels very nimble and easy to fiddle with.

Down low due to the ex having much MUCH shorter gearing it felt a little torquier. Like before 5-6. This thing feels just a little bit slower. 6-10 this thing feels a bit stronger than the ex. Not crazy, but definitely faster.

now 10-14 is the "magic spot" on this thing. just like most super sport 600's. all hell breaks loose, and it feels like VTAK just kicked in y0

The paint will be gone over the winter.
It will be silver for sure.

I'll look into the color you're suggesting, or just do the OEM silver.

Eventually I'll get me an SV. I love those bikes, and I think it is the PERFECT all arounder for me.
But for now I'll enjoy this. I got a great deal on it so I had to get it.

They will get sprayed bronze or black when/if they get scuffed/scratched or if current finish starts fading.

If you decided to go a solid color, the $50 roller paint job came out really well on my track plastics. Something to consider when painting a cheaper bike. Pick which fender is the OEM and which is SharkSkinz roller painted. BTW, that's painted only, no sanding or buffing.

I've owned a Triumph ('02 955i) and their paint quality, hell their build quality, is something else. The one on the left has the right depth, but the one you rolled on the right is very friggin' close, which is saying a lot.

The bike put together with the race plastics is amazing.

Paint was from http://www.jamestowndistributors.com...+Polyurethane#

Quart is $27.99. I painted five coats and used maybe 1/2" from the can.

Get the brushing liquid 333 for around $10. Shipping was around $10 total with the hazard fee (pint) http://www.jamestowndistributors.com...ing+Liquid+333 and mix 5-10% to the paint in in your painting container - not the can.

How to:

Beware, the thread is 43 pages and then goes to the next thread for another 80 pages. Probably one of the most epic "real" threads out there.

http://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/...0&fpart=1&vc=1

http://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/...0&fpart=1&vc=1

I used a cheap foam brush for everything but may try a roller if I need to do it again just to see if it helps. There are so many contours, though, that I question if it will help.

Bear in mind, it started with Rustoleum, but many have moved to the Brightside that I linked above with better results.

Here is the track bodywork thread that got me into it:

http://www.triumph675.net/forum/showthread.php?t=23694

As far as other Triumph sites, I'm mainly on triumph675.net but that won't help you much with a 600.
