i mean, there might have been 1-2 seconds where his hand might have been exposed to some flames when he grabbed and spilled the can.

From the look of it, he more or less poured the gasoline all over himself.

When he grabbed the can as the fire started to spread onto the floor, he jerked it back towards himself, causing fuel to rush up out of the can onto his arm (this is clearly visible at 1:10-1:11). Gasoline is one of the primary ingredients of Napalm.

He was still burning when he ran out the door, and we didn't see how long it took for him to extinguish himself. (Presumably he tried shouting at the fire first.)

I'd be interested in a slightly burned driver seat if he does part-out...dibs.

His arm.

His leg is just as bad.

I guess something he wrote:
My drift miata with a Chevy 350 bursts into flames

My name is shawn prince and i am 23 years old. I was/am building a Mazda miata drift car powered by a small block Chevy 350. I was super excited to start it.... I could not start with exhaust manifolds because they would not fit. I have to make my own.... But aside from that, I mounted in the car, via modified subframe and hooked a hoist on the rear to keep the engine level.... I hooked up all the fuel lines and gave it a go.... Resulted in a horrendous fire where I got 1st and 2nd degree burns all over my left arm and leg...
the reason for the fire is ignition timing was off and fuel pressure at the regulator was too high.... I killed fuel and spark and I kept turning the engine over so it would suck the fire back into the engine therefore extinguishing the fire but that didn't work and I did not have a fire extinguisher so I grabbed the hose....
I do not have insurance with my employer so that is why I am creating this.... to help me pay the burn clinic to treat me for my misfortune and for the time I am missing at my job to make money so I can live.
Any donations are more than welcome and much appreciated. Thank you.
I don't think i need to say anything more....

I'm not a fancy shmancy engineer, but I think if you still need the hoist to support the engine, it's probably not a good time for the first startup.

Plus without the exhaust manifold, even if he did manage to start it (you know the 3rd or 4th try when it was already on fire) all that would have happened is that he would have shot a bunch of burning gas directly towards him.

Doesn't sound like he learned enough from his mistakes yet. It's going to take another fire or two.

I really hope no one donates money... Why would he get paid for his stupidity?

On one hand, I feel bad for the kid. He was showing a lot of gumption and definitely dove in to the deep end for his first swim. How many of us worked on project cars without fire extinguishers in the garage when we were young? We might not have tried to fire up a carb'd engine (being suspended by a hoist) with no exhaust manifold, but we might have been doing something with a fuel line or regulator around a hot engine or manifold.

Now, he's potentially going to be out work for an extended time period and have his credit garfed by medical bill write-offs.

On the other hand, enthusiasm and moxy is no excuse for common sense and proper planning.
