How to wash your Miata when it's 25*F outside....like a boss.

Too cold? Do it in the garage!:giggle:

This solves a few problems:

No freezing your ass off.
No water freezing on the car before you get it dry.
No need to wear heavy clothing to stay warm.
Soap won't dry on the car because of the sun or wind.
Listen to tunes while doing so because you have a killer stereo in the garage.
Neighbors won't think you're weird for washing your car in sub-freezing temperatures.
Garage floor gets a good cleaning as well.

Honestly, I was waiting for the car to cool off so I could work under the hood and figured it would be a good time to get all the snow/road salt/nastyness off the car from driving back home in the snow on Sunday.

What if you have no garage (like most people)?

Doppelgänger 12-27-2010 07:30 PM

Borrow someone else's :giggle:

your garage is bare as shit.
I can't do something like that cause I have wooden shelving all over the place.
but then it almost never gets 25* around here :D

Doppelgänger 12-27-2010 08:41 PM

That side is because there is normally another turbo Miata parked over there ;)

My daily is nasty Rustoleum white...I washed it under the carport with simple green and a tire brush then backed-it out into the rain to let it rinse over the weekend. Redneck efficiency win!

Like a boss?

How about inside a friend's detail shop whenever you need to? lol

Heated, floor drains, every tool known to man, etc etc.

hustler 12-29-2010 11:33 PM

lol @ nice cars. I had mine painted 6-months ago and it already needs a bumper spray. I also never fixed the buffer marks, lol.

There's some detailing products out there for washing your car in the garage with little to no water. Something I need to start doing...

Stealth97 12-30-2010 01:35 PM

Eh, a boss would just have someone else do it..

I washed my car yesterday to discover that the giant fucking truck that tossed an Indiana Jones boulder-sized piece of mud at my car not only nicked my hood, but also chipped my windshield

Braineack 01-06-2011 11:41 AM

good think most insurances pay for the windshield with no deposit. then you can enjoy a clear windshield without pitting.

I've considered throwing a rock at my prelude since picking it up in March...it's the absolute most pitted windshield ive ever been behind.

CPSmith 01-06-2011 11:48 AM

I'm not too upset about the windshield. It's not to the point where it will spread. It's almost more of a scuff than a chip. It just bothers me I was like, 200 feet behind the guy, and in the other lane. I guess that's the life of a daily driver though.
