Identify turbo downpipe

First time posting, although I have been lurking for a while thinking I would eventually buy/build a turbo Miata. I was about to put on a FFS on a Miata I just bought, when out of the blue I found out a local extreme high end performance shop had a complete Miata 1.8 turbo 0 mile engine, and all the components to go with it. They convinced a customer it was too much engine for his son.

I am hoping the more knowledgable here can help me with out, as I haven't found anything searching to help me out.

Can anyone help me identify the 3" down pipe I got with this engine? It has a complete divorced dump pipe, and I cannot find anything that remotely resembles it. The intake is a Trackspeed --- but I cannot find any vendor selling a down pipe like this one...? I don't have a clue what exhaust to buy since I have no idea who's or what pipe it is, and am I going to have to replace it with something else that is a known brand.

Thank in advance.

custom. the DP is useless without a matching manifold/turbo to fit to -- but it looks like it bolts up to a stock location cat.

Complete Engine

It was installed in a car, and I have all the parts.. But it sounds like if its custom, there isn't any off the shelf exhaust I can buy I would imagine..

Another question (noob, but reads) -- Anyone have experience with the AEM series 2? It seams to be infinitely adjustable, but much more difficult than a MegaSquirt PnP, which is what most people seem to have. Would I be better off selling/swapping to the MS?

That is a Begi manifold. I am betting Begi made the DP as a one off, based off you being out of Texas.

Braineack 11-27-2018 10:09 AM

good. most off-the-shelf exhausts suck.

and again, that DP looks like it bolts up to the stock cat location -- so extending that logic, any 3" cat and cat-back should work.

it's possible it's a BEGi DP, are the tubes two pieces below the wrap?

sesker 11-27-2018 11:20 AM

Yes -- the two pipes are completely separated the entire length.

Could be since BEGI was 30 miles out of Austin, where I live.

building a custom turbo and worried about fitting exhaust? hell man, that will be the easiest of your problems.

sesker 11-28-2018 09:40 AM

^^^ lol - I know, but it wouldn't it be super nice to have a one-off and be able to just order and exhaust for it?

Braineack 11-28-2018 09:48 AM

Not a lot of nice 3" exhausts out there that you can just order...

sesker 11-28-2018 06:47 PM

From what I have looked up, everyone offers a 3" exhaust...

I have another couple of questions for those who no more than I.. I cannot figure out the plumbing of some of this stuff, I have looked at so many turbo . Miata installations, and I cannot figure it out, or some of the parts. If you don't mind dispensing with some of your knowledge, I would appreciate it.. How, where, do these get plumbed in...

The one with the smaller hose is probably for a na8 IAC, however the way it’s clocked would point it down off the throttle body and into the frame rail. Most likely it was randomly clamped together after removal incorrectly. The other one with the bov probably attaches to it and wraps around the radiator to the intercooler.

90% of the time custom intercooler pipes can be made more efficiently/cleaner. Just remember the goal is to have only 4 straight couplers, 2 at the intercooler, one at the throttle body, and one at the turbo, with beaded welded pipes in between that don’t rub anything or go any further than necessary. I’ll admit the 90* coupler at the throttle body is necessary, but 4-5 couplers per side are not.
