HOLY SHIT!! never saw a car do a FRONT wheel stand before hahahah :bowrofl:

cjernigan 11-10-2008 02:11 AM

Man.... That sucks. Guess he wishes he replaced the shifter alignment bushings now.

18psi 11-10-2008 02:32 AM

integra's have alignment bushings? I have installed many a short shifter on a few friends civics/tegs and never has anything had to be "aligned" maybe im missing something

cjernigan 11-10-2008 02:37 AM

Hell i don't know how they work truthfully i just hate shifters in front wheel drive cars. Most of them are cable operated to the transaxles and the bushings or springs wear out real bad and their gating system feels super shitty. So self aligning to the middle like it should.
His own fault for doing that mis shift though, that ones pretty hard.

18psi 11-10-2008 02:47 AM

true that....except on that year civic/tegs its not cable operated, its a shaft that goes from the shifter straight into the tranny. really old school shit lol

Not that car! It has a K24/20 hybrid motor which is cable shifted!

18psi 11-10-2008 01:17 PM

yeah I thought it probably has something of the sort, k20 swaps are very common on big power honda's these days. I had 4 rsx's though, and there is NO alignment on any part of the shifter mechanism whatsoever. unless they are using something weird/new that I have not heard of.

Some how, a F body managed to get into reverse going down the track a couple of years ago. I missed it, I think I was racing that day but my friends said the thing nearly jumped in the air and the reverse lights flashed. Luckily I have never unintentionally down shifted at redline, but I am pretty sure I would crap my pants.

Way back in the day, I used to ride around in a 20G 1G AWD DSM.

It had a shit trans, would pop out of second, etc.

One night, after a bunch of racing, from the top of third my buddy goes into 2nd instead of 4th, for an instant. I was watching the TMO laptop logger at the time, knock was maxed, and I think (don't remember) we hit ~10-11k rpm for a fraction of a second, only his quick reaction saved the motor.

It was a rather unexpected.

Talk about some excellent traction with the front tires; I'm surprised that it just did not skid. Never seen that before, awesome. I guess the huge weight shift plus possible drag tires did the trick.

jeff_man 11-10-2008 02:13 PM

holy hell i didn't know you could nollie a car, i need to lean that.

cjernigan 11-10-2008 03:04 PM

Last person I let drive my car felt it would be ok to go to redline in 3rd and mis-shift into 2nd. I almost stabbed him in the neck immediately. Good think our tachs are off. It was an indicated 7k rpm which is really more like 6700 so he hit around 7800 or less in a mechanical over-rev. I still wouldn't mind stabbing him in the neck.

jeff_man 11-10-2008 03:45 PM

saw my tech go to 8000 rmp once on a 4th to 3ed, i had to pit and change my pants. that was the day i started to love my miata.

Savington 11-10-2008 06:23 PM

I have grabbed 3rd from redline in 4th twice, in the same place on the same track in the same day. I was pissed at myself.

M-Tuned 11-10-2008 06:45 PM

At my last motorcycle track day I saw 17,000rpm on my R6 for a split seconds as I down shifted a little too much. Was a little worried, but all is well and I have put a bunch of kms on it since.

Deatschwerks 11-10-2008 08:12 PM

Dang, id hate to be that guy.. how embarrassing

mazda/nissan 11-14-2008 11:02 AM

i love listening to all the "HELL YEAH, WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT? DID YOU GET THAT? HELL YEAH! HOLY FUCK! I LIKE COCKS! WHAT DID HE DO?!" as the track eats the car's front bumper
