Kelford 272 idle in my 91
That sounds awesome.
You bastard! That sounds awsome...
I take it you won't be selling them |
Sounds awesome. I thought you got the 280s? Change your mind?
Yeah 280s were highly recommended for drag race only, no street drivabilty.
What is the duration at .050 inches lift?
how many rpms was that? got any driving vids?
Oh hell f*cking yeah.
i love the lumpy idle sound of them cams.....
DO NOT SELL! what are you up to this weekend? must see in person.
Cspence came over and we got it running even smoother at idle. Haven't driven it yet. Still waiting on the injector situation. These low imp 1000cc are going to be a pain in the ass.
they dont make cams for the 1.8 do they?
sweet mother of gawd
i need my escort to sound like this. time to upgrade my cams again i guess... |
@ wonton

Only head work i have is super tech springs and ti retainers. WonTon check out www.kelford.co.nz You wont be able to order from them direct, I had to go through Motion Lab Tuning in NC, and they had to go through Motovicity in CA, who is Kelfords US distributor. Motovicity sucks dick to deal with, they fucked up my order and made getting these things a 2 and a half month nightmare. Todd at Motion Lab is a hell of a guy and did pretty much all he could to get this transaction to go smoothly. If anyone does want cams from Kelford, prepair to shell out all money up front, and be ready to wait a loooooooooong ass time. |
Did some more light tuning last night, if we can't get this thing to idle smooth I'm getting rid of these cams. I want my car to drive like its stock when I'm not in boost.
Here we all are creaming our pants over the one thing you hate about the cams... ironic? lol
I would not get rid of them just yet. It will take some time getting it right.
Have you considered lowering the gear ratio just a bit. Gear change and cam change go hand in hand. It will get you out of the hard to drive lower rpm, and into a smoother higher rpm while cruising. |

DIBS. That being said though, with a little time I bet we get it running smooth . Christ, in the 45 minutes we spent with it I think it improved ten fold. |
Wow that's nice!
Now I wanna get cams before IM now
Sweeet!
When you start making big changes in cam profile idle is usualy going to be lumpy. Personally I like it. I also loved going to a no-balance shaft 4G63 with poly mounts and manual steering. So its personal preference. I say keep them. That sounds awesome, and I want to hear some WOT in 3rd from 2K to redline! |
+1 on some vids

they would suck dick with the 230cc injectors i have in there now lol. Im waiting on my 750s.......
Sounds sick!
:drool:Wow, I am so in-love with that sound:drool:
Please don't fight with them so much that you end getting rid of them. You will be able to drive it normally, it will just take some massaging and from what Cspence has written, it seems you two have already made some headway. When we had a Hennessy 650 cam installed in our '95 it took fooooorever to get used to the way it needed to be driven. Was it worth the effort? Hellz Yeah! May I ask how much you paid for the set? Also, any idea who else makes performance cams for the 1.6? EDIT: Whoa. Just checked out the prices....very interesting. But, not bad for a set of Cams. |
HKS. But they are very pricy ;)

I just got wood
I am jealous... I'd like to get that exact same cam setup. Someday. Maybe someone can get a group buy going since it seems like such a pain to buy just one.

Because they are, as you said, very pricey. I doubt most people here will pony up the cash for a set. Especially since not much information is available about how they actually perform.
