Lifecam Cinema

I just saw this webcam recently
Microsoft LifeCam Cinema HD Webcam - H5D-00001 - Buy.com

Seems like it would be perfect for making in-car videos if one is already carrying a laptop. The laptop would be the DVR. The camera is small, 720p @ 30 fps, and cheap. Anybody use one?

I bet that's what the webcam girls use....uhmmmm

would only work if you have a sold state drive, a platter hard drive would stop working from g forces and vibration.

Are you sure about that? I can understand the concern, but I logged data at MSR from my Adaptronic onto my Eee PC without any problems, at least not yet.

that's a small csv file that can cache to ram then dump to drive when the hd come back to life when you park. we are talking hd video, that's about 1.5gb or more for a 20 min run

Granted it is not streaming nearly as much data, but I am pretty sure it works the same way as the MS (I logged on that one too). The data is written to the HD continuously. Sample, write, wait. Sample, write, wait. etc etc

Plus I have been putting the Eee in a location that is not hard mounted to the chassis so there is some shock attenuation.

I have an older tablet PC with a 2.5" HD that I use as my in-car computer. It is mounted to a bracket that's bolted to the floor. Been running strong for about 4 years. I have datalogged AutoX runs, group runs through the desert, etc.
