Local GT-R eating Ferrari GT's, Porsche's, and race prepped ZR-1 at Daytona

Keep in mind that GT-R is close to OEM weight. Also note the seminoles helmet :-P

hustler 12-08-2009 03:47 PM

Cool. That is exactly why I built the green car.

jdmaddox88 12-08-2009 04:56 PM

Ok, that is pretty fucking cool. The GTR has really grown on me.

Fireindc 12-08-2009 05:03 PM

Awesome machine. Looks amazingly easy to drive.

buffon01 12-08-2009 05:23 PM

Sick!!!!

miatamania 12-08-2009 05:50 PM

That car is on Hoosiers..During One Lap Will Taylor/Steven Rankins (Will drove both Daytona sessions I'm pretty sure) set down right at 2:01ish on street tires on the 24 hour course...with a lot less power. Still, impressive hunting...I like seeing these cars do well.

NA6C-Guy 12-08-2009 06:03 PM

I'll post a video after I take mine to Barber and whoop up on the local Ferrari's, Porsche's and Vette's...

Wait, I don't have one. :cjerk:

That would be very high on my list of cars to own if I had serious money. P800 kit of course.

cjernigan 12-08-2009 06:09 PM

The freedom guys are great, I've seen this GTR at the track many times.

Super nice crew. Let me sit in all of their cars and revved up the M6 at their shop with no exhaust on it. The amount of toys at that shop is why I go to college.

Shame the rear wing on that GT-R is worth more than I have in my car.

Doppelgänger 12-08-2009 11:45 PM

They're still ugly.

m2cupcar 12-09-2009 09:37 AM

Ferrari sounds badass!

+1

The Vette at the end of the vid put up a good fight before succumbing to the inevitable.

My Miata was parked next to one at the last college game I went too. I just can't get over how big they are, and I still don't care for them all that much.

m2cupcar 12-09-2009 10:59 AM

I'm not a big fan of track event victories when the other car lets off the throttle for the pass. Yeah, I know, that's the rules. Granted it's not racing, but all those passes in the vid are lame. Not knocking the GTr, just the touting.

I agree, but rules are rules. It would be much more entertaining to see him pass while they were both still WOT, especially that ZR1 that seemed to be about even matched on the straights.

flier129 12-09-2009 11:28 AM

Damn! The sound of the ferrari made me wet my pants. The GTR is definately impressive, that last pass on the vette seemed to be WOT for both of them lol.

2k6750 12-09-2009 12:56 PM

Go Noles! I've (lightly) driven a GTR and was in heaven for 4 seconds up to the speed limit. I wasn't real fond of the looks of them when they first came out, but they really grew on me. The sound of that Zr1 made me nut a little too!

UrbanSoot 12-09-2009 04:54 PM

i still think that its hideous

TwoThousandMiata 12-09-2009 06:12 PM

ZR1

This is why I could never ONLY do track days. Driving around by yourself gets boring. Driving in a clusterfuck is a good time.

Well, you've never run with John, Jeffman, Machismo, Gary, and a few others. We hunt in packs, eat our young, and drink blood from still-beating hearts. We basically do the "gentleman's rules" racing thing. Sure its not wheel-to-wheel, but we're seriously determined to have the fastest street cars on the track.

It should for $200k.

m2cupcar 12-09-2009 10:07 PM

Should have been more specific. Not knocking track events- and it's probably more of a Daytona thing. Tighter tracks are more exciting for track event videos. And maybe for me it's always been a slow car (slow miata or IS300) vs. fast car thing (M3, Porsche, Vette or whatever). I'm used to hounding the cars in front through the turns (and even braking zones) to get a good jump coming onto the straights. There was some of that going on as he exited the infield and went to the oval. But I suppose in the big $ cars, what's the point in rushing to pass when you've got the oval.

And to Hustler's point, when there's a bunch that are used to running with each other, the scenery changes. Drivers trust each other, or rather know who to trust when- same as wheel to wheel.

96rdstr 12-10-2009 08:43 AM

To me, the GTR makes hero drivers out of peeps who ordinarily cannot drive. Mash the throttle through the turns, and the car will decide how much throttle to add based on steering angle, wheel spin ect. I am sure you can turn it off, but why would you? Hustler and those that track a Miata or any other older car, where the traction control is your right foot, get more respect from me, in a non-gay way.

Machismo 12-10-2009 09:58 AM

+1 for knowing who to trust when dealing with these gays sometimes.

turotufas 12-10-2009 02:34 PM

Tallahassee has a lot of nice shops. A few weeks ago I seen a Noble m400 and a GTR at my local track that came down from there.

That's called passion! Maybe if Nole players had it then they wouldn't have had a losing season.

FSU got OWNED by USF, and USF totally sucks!

I see what you're saying but why not make the most of technology sometimes? When you're dropping that kind of change you're not going to find a grassroots feel comparable to the Miata so why not go for whatever works best?

Welcome to "vintage racing." I fought it for a long time and after talking to a few proper vintage racers, I realized that I arrived a while ago.

Passion my ass. Thats called being a whiny bitch after losing to Bama! ROLL TIDE!!!

turotufas 12-10-2009 10:00 PM

I just hope Bama can bring that shit home for the SEC!

spoolin2bars 12-17-2009 01:16 PM

gtr's are awesome machines, but you don't get the reward you do with a good handling rwd car, like a miata or bmw, etc....... same thing with evo's and sti's, they're fast but you don't feel satisfied when you exit the track. the feeling you get when your on the limits with just a little slip angle at or near triple digit speeds.........it's the best.
