Miss that car... It's hard to believe that it has been over 10 years.. I'm aiming for a Miata this round as soon as I can get my 21 CB1000R sold/traded!!

Pretty sweet, what was the turbo setup on that thing? I've got a 323gtx (welll 2 of them) and always loved the escort GT, mazda protege, etc with the BP. A cool era for mazda BP powered cars that were easily boosted.

That said, nothing compares to a miata. Cliche, I know, but for a fun/weekend type of car those cars (323gtx included) are all boats compared to a Miata! If you've never owned one you gotta get one! I'd suggest a nice NB for a starting point.

in this vid is was a JDM BP26 from a gtx halfcut with a externally gated gtx manifold running a 50trim Garrett, working on the first fuel maps when I switched to ms.

This was it's final form, no video as I gave up on doing my BJ/awd swap and sold everything.

Ideally I'd liked to trade the bike out for a already boosted bp na/nb with a hardtop to start with. My back is in bad shape these days and I'd like to avoid pulling motors frequently... at my best, I could pull the whole bp out in under 45mins by myself 😆. That's not happening with a miata and my back.. I've wrestled with a few in the junkyard.

Looks to have been more developed and better tuned than my previous 1995 Escort GT turbo. Mine was the VJ-20 upgraded with some T-Bird compressor and wheel, then rebalanced. I sold it back around 2006 and missed boost. Around 2010 I bought an NB1 Miata, gave up trying to tune an MS2 as it was a beat up POS. Then I found a 2004 Miata LS with 40k miles and decided not to turbocharge it. I sold it in 2020 with ~66k miles after finding a 21-22 mile Mazdaspeed that had the full FM2 Garrett upgrade kit, Fat Cat coil overs, a Boss Frog double hoop roll bar, and now I'm running a built MSM engine from a salvage car nearby with an MS3 targeting 18 psi on the GT2560R. This Spring I upgraded to the new, higher flowing manifold and down pipe and sold the original for almost half the cost. Now I'm thinking about a better fuel pump, 1050 injectors and once this catalyst dies, a 3" exhaust and maybe a PSR2860 Gen 2 or whatever I find at that time only after 300WHP, the transmission becomes the weakest link.

Sorry to read about your back, I'm lying in bed right now with a heating pad on my lower back. Mine is more temporary after spending 12 hours in bed because my body flipped out with its immune response to my first Shingles vaccination shot. Still, I feel like this might be foreshadowing. Getting old and/or dealing with injuries sucks! Good luck finding an already built Miata. They're out there and many times people shy away from somebody else's project. Mine had receipts and was in great shape with many mods that I would have wanted to install. The flipside was getting $10k to $15k in mods and labor nearly free buying somebody's project!

I ended up moving over to an imported low mile 2001 audi TT 225 quattro running 21psi.. Now that was a fun car to blast around. Took it up and down the east coast, had much fun with her! Almost bought a 2nd one but during covid, I got the bike and couldn't afford 3 vehicles on insurance, so it got the cut.. 😑 My spine is all sorts of fucked up from a car accident when I was younger that involved tboning a drunk driver, to which my seatbelt failed and I hit the windshield, almost died!! Now, I live with constain pain.. and I'm lucky if I get 4hrs of sleep a day most of the time.. I love riding but my 43 year old broken back does not..Anything back related sucks!!! Get better ☺️ As for buying other people's projects, it can be cringe for sure.. I at least have many years worth of Mazda related experience and know what I'm getting into and what to lookout for. Now I just need to find someone that's willing to pull the trigger on a trade 😆 Easier said, not many big bike fans that I've talked to thus far.. Keeping my fingers crossed!!
