Aside from the booster pack, that sounds just like Matt Andrew's car.
It would be nice to have a "Snail" vs. "Screw" shootout.
Again, we all know it would boil down to the driver's. Maybe allow each driver to switch into opposing car and see if they can better the time?

That would be cool. A "Run what you brung" Miata road race event! I'm all for ride-alongs and driver swaps, too. If you can get your car around MSR safely, I have no problem letting you take my car for a few laps.

Sounds like something that could be quite entertaining. Let's get some feelers out.

Reading my mind. That's why I call my driver "the Stig" cause he jumps into other people's cars and runs similar or faster lap times. He went faster in Keith V. backup SM than Keith ever managed, and that was with a new motor, only 5500rpm revs, and me in the car! Did the same thing with Bob's ITA Miata...was 1 sec slower than Bob on the new section, and it was his first time to ever drive it, and he only had one 20min session to do it. Bob has driven it for 2+ yrs. He is just REALLY REALLY GOOD.

I have come to realize that over the past two years.
That, yes, people can be taught to drive fast and smooth.
But there are those few breeds, that are just naturally damn fast in anything they plant their butt into.
Those are the ones I love to follow (though brief) to learn a few things at certain sections.

He is self-taught..never been to a driving school, he got his NASA Pro License in 1 session at MSR, which was also his first time on the track. He is currently a sponsored Sprint car driver, and just got a new ride 2 races ago, got invited to the Devil's Bowl, and has another sponsor offering a new ride (and new car) for next season. This is his first season back in Sprint cars after a 20yr break. It is VERY HUMBLING to ride with him.

this is a great idea and all, but furthers the reality that Hallett needs a miata "time attack" time trial event with open hot-lapping sessions. That way I'd have a chance because I know that track really, really, really well. MSR would never go for this, Hallett would and we don't need memberships to get in. We should also touch base with Harris Hill and see if they're interested.

The problem is insurance though...if we decide to make this a competition, things get expensive and most likely EMS has to hang out.

It would be a friendly competition, so no more requirements than for any other driver's event. I got a quote of $12.5k to rent the whole track for a day, so either we need 100 people or some sponsors. Maybe even both, a whole day is alot of track time.

Let's get a list of members and non-members (buddy team) started. Then we can find a day that works best for most people and take over MSR for a day.

I have:
My boss - member
Me - non-member
Bob Stretch - member
The Stig - non-member
Keith V. - member

Kelly - member
I'd be in for this, but not-a-member also. Saving my money for a possible H2R membership.

Keep us posted on day, and maybe get the TDR crew vs. rivals.
Does the Noble have a passenger seat?

Does TDR crew equal TDR parts or super?

Am I TDR crew or not?...lol.

I can't wait to hear everyone talk **** about each other. However, I probably don't have enough skill to run with this group.

edit: Gary Shuhart will emerge victorious.
+1 to both. I haven't been on MSR since the new part was laid.

actually, I never give myself enough credit. I've never had a problem fighting with gt3's when I had 94whp, I'll probably fair much better with almost 3x the power.

Miatamaniac - Yes, the Noble has a pax seat. It actually sports a full interior with alacantra covered roll cage, stereo, and full a/c and heater.
Twin turbo all aluminum Ford Escape crate motor FTW.
425 WHP w/ 475 lbs. of torque. We have actually never had the car in 6th gear. Pulls 160 + mph at TWS on the back straight in 5th before having to shut it down.

The new section at MSR is a blast, but not very Miata friendly when it comes to climbing the hill without boost.

Right now I'm gonna try to get the 3.1 at MSR. I know more people there, so it should be easier for me to get something setup there. I'm not ruling out Hallett, but right now I'm gonna try running at MSR.

Well, using a member's day is not allowed, so that option is out. I'm working with Apex at MSR to get more details. They will probably run it, since they are already familiar with setting them up.

If we can get 80+ people who want to run, we can get the price down to $200/Ea.

That would be the best route, and you wouldn't have to provide all the flagger's and other misc. safeties.
That's usually when I can get to track, is through a HPDE.

If we go through Apex it won't be fun. You should check with Eagle's Canyon because they do $150 open track days there now.

Apex is just helping get it set up, it won't be an Apex event.
