Miata is getting paint
 

Well insurance has paid me, and the car is off to the body shop. They didn't even mention salvage when they handed me the check :D

So here are some pictures of the car sitting at the shop. I stripped it down this weekend, and drove it over bare. Got quite a few stares as I drove to the shop LOL.

it never shows in the photos, but the car is three shades of white. The front fenders, hood, front bumper etc are nice new white paint. The car was repainted up front because the paint peeled off. The doors and rear fenders are the original oxidized white, that will not buff or shine. The trunk lid I am not sure the story, but it is a different white all together, and again will not buff out.

The car is changing color to 2009 MX-5 Stormy Blue Mica.

^ that color would make for one serious looking NA...darker than the color of jeffman's NB...and without the bling of the Mica.

haha, my dad owns two BMWs in that color.

That looks pretty close to my twilight blue mica 99. It's much darker than the Stormy Blue Mica.

Ouch $300 parts order to Mazda, and that didn't include the header gasket. Going to wait till the rainy season to change it. Always amazes me the parts support our cars have. Stupid little plastic rivets, screws, clips, etc all available without issue. :D

Your's a respray?

Last time I checked, Twighlight Blue Mica was a limited run of 1500 '97s only...

The NB color Twilight Blue Mica was available in 99-00, replaced by Midnight Blue Mica.

Are you blending it in or leaving it able to be unbolted?

Edit - now that I'm home and can see the pics, I know why some were challenging your need for paint! The pics do the car's current paint a great deal of justice.

The body shop doesn't like the idea of painting my old mirrors. They are pretty shot, and the covers over the screws are cracked.

So I am thinking a set of Raydot Mirrors mounted on aluminum plates. Thoughts? I read that visibilty is really poor with them. I had them on my TR4, and and other race cars, I didn't think they were all that bad.

After riding a motorcycle for several years you get used to it.

I'm toying with the idea of putting MC mirrors on the Miata.

Thoughts on a set of Runabouts? Found a set in pristine condition used in the bay area.

Car is a daily driver LOL, I need that stuff. Will most likely mount an S2000 antenna though, and with the dark color you won't see the sprayers. My car never had a nose badge (90), and I have the GV rear finish panel :D

A couple update pictures. My car has been pushed back another 2 weeks. Two reasons, first the rear bumper of the car is toast. So we need to file an amendment to the original estimate for either repairs, or replacement. Second, is this body shop takes care of the Monterey County Sheriffs Dept. They had a high speed chase this weekend and smacked 3 Crown Vics. Well they get priority over everyone, plus there was a CHP car getting the final buff out.

Also this weekend I buffed out the turn sigs, side markers, and third brake light. They came out looking pretty good :D

Unfortunately, no. I need to delegate my money, which I am bad with as is. Since the car is now an extra two weeks off, I am thinking it is time to get my new steering wheel :D
