Default my failboat vs 300whp STi

So the assraping of the wrx last week made a buddy of mine want to try me in his STi, since he's a better driver and has a bit more power than the WRX I played with.

05 STi
vf22 turbo, downpipe, exhaust, 3port bcs, tuned at 20psi tapering down to 16. ~300whp

Wheelspin in 2nd, what a surprise

I couldn't shift into 5th properly AGAIN

You can CLEARLY see the much stronger topend of this car vs the WRX. Though I still beat him in the Thuper gay mobile

youtube that ****

Good pull, though. You're probably making ~220-225whp, or the "300whp" STi was on a dynojet.

My 200whp mustang dyno car was dead even with a 270whp WRX (270whp on a dyno where stock STis make 220-230)

EJ motors just never seem to have the topend they should relative to other engines of similar displacement. I dont know why that is, maybe something with plenum design on a flat engine?

It has a lot to do with how they are designed. Everything about them is intended for midrange torque over topend power. Smaller turbo's that run out of steam up top, incredibly long exhaust plumbing pre-turbo, engine configuration, bore/stroke, etc etc etc.

Its a rally car after all.

That said I LOVE subaru's and absolutely 100% see another one in my future. Even though I've already had 3
