My Ken Block invitational media coverage

Here is a quick clip of Ken Loosing to Top Gear America's host. My final edit of the whole event should be done tonight, and on the web by tomorrow.

They both lost.

thesnowboarder 12-06-2010 12:37 PM

Hows that work?

Braineack 12-06-2010 12:45 PM

Well, it is very similar to saying Jennifer Grey beat Kyle Massey & Bristol Palin on Dancing with the Stars...

thesnowboarder 12-06-2010 12:56 PM

Fair enough, here is the full edit I finished with.

Suggestions/comments/ways to improve is always welcome! Hope you guys enjoy it.

some of the shots are great, still question your taste in music. Video went much better with The Final Countdown I had playing in the background.

Music seems to be the largest issue i have, its impossible to please everyone. Suggestions on future music?

Braineack 12-06-2010 01:51 PM

This was playing my background

it was pretty epic. I really like the slow panning shots FWIW, and the shots through the net.

turotufas 12-06-2010 02:00 PM

Omg hahahahaha! Damn you caps.

Music is tough. But think of it like you do your shots. It's all about composition.

Contrasting sounds or sounds that blend with the cars...

Music that fits the mood (aggressive) or that fits the style of the filming (smooth and flowing). Or both.

Or if you want to get wacky, search for some Vitamin Strings versions of more hardcore music.

did u do that all with your 70-200? in for details, looks good.

how about throwing your tahoe parking lot snowboard tunes on? ur right, music is hard. id be happy with old school green day or pumpkins but im proly the only one.

UrbanSoot 12-06-2010 04:11 PM

I would go with this song:

Braineack 12-06-2010 04:12 PM

here you go...this play nicely in the background...almost long enough too:

Everyone likes different music, I tend to kinda toss in the newest thing I have been listening to or is stuck in my head.

Most of the shots are done with my friends 70-200 2.8IS, I dream to own the same lens someday. Likely ill just get the f/4 one though, for both weight and price.

A quality tipod helps alot, like the zoomed in panning shots.. Anything I do handheld tends to be pretty shaky. Its about time for a quality stedi-cam too.

I think there are 3 metal bands that fit pretty much any video: Pantera, Dimmu Borgir, and Apocalyptica. Seriously, pick any song that any of these bands has written and apply it to any video that you have. It will work!

2.8is is a nice lens (the 2.8 non is for 1g might be a good compromise). i was just thinking about a 70-200 and 100-400 tag team. 70-200 is primary and then switch over to 100-400 closeups for cone-strikes, finish line, etc. i dunno if the 100-400 would work though since its not a constant aperature lens.

Music was awesome, but then I'm a fan of empire of the sun :)
