My M.F.R. to the slammed CR/So-Ghey style Miatas...

Oh noes someone let me loose on Road Atlanta this past weekend. There was a group of A/B cars that I should have been running in, but they had a 95mph cap... C group had no speed limit and could pass in more places. I managed to get up to ~135mph on the back straight, though I could have stayed in the gas longer and probably hit 140, I decided to make sure the brakes were up for it....and found out they did not like slowing me down from those speeds so I decided to cruise at a measley 120 for about the last 1/3 of the straight before the braking zone. The rest of the track is friggin awesome though!! My first time on RA as a driver and bet your ass i'll be back.

Guess my 4x4 ride height and "fwd off set wheels" and over sized tires are pretty useless :jerkit:

And some of the other cars that were out there...

and then there was this NB turbo... which i've seen somewhere before but can't remember where. Talked to the guy and he said some shop in FL fab'ed the turbo kit. I didn't get to talk to him long before I headed out on the track.
It wasn't going all that fast out there..probably because it was scrubbing and on shitty Toyo street tires.

Does that FC 10AE have a body kit? Boooo

Did you swap the stock bumper on just for the track or are you running that all the time now?

cjernigan 11-11-2008 04:07 PM

Ewwww, they had you running the track backwards, thats no fun.
I'm sure it was still a good time though.

the stocker with lip looks so much better than that bodykit...imo

Your's is a great looking car. Color is one of the best and the ride height is perfect visually. Track days are addicting so you better get some track worthy brake pads for next time. Rcomps's are addicting too. Tough to go back to street legal grip after running those.

I met the guy with the red NB in Auburn at a APR Tuning event. He knows practically nothing about the car and pays everyone else to do his work for him.
When I saw the car I pointed out that his #4 runner on his nice long tube manifold had a huge 1" crack along the weld and it was leaking everywhere.
He was running weak engine managment and a 2nd fuel rail. Nice turbo setup but there were many things i didn't approve of, like the stretched tires and offset wheels. To each this own.

Running backwards? They only run Road-A one way lol. They used to use different configurations of track layout, but don't anymore. Also, I was running full slicks and didn't even overheat them... tells me I have far more grip or I was driving them just right.

Yeah, I switch out the bumper for 'high risk' events and I don't mind leaving the stocker on the car now that it's cooler... but the GV does make a nice difference for cooling when it's warm outside.

And yes, that poor 10AE has a kit on it..which wouldn't be all that bad if the car was really clean and it had some wicked wheels to go with it.

IIWY Mike, I'd leave the stocker on most of the time and put on the GV when it's time to show off, save it from some of the rock chips and such.

I guess by your photos it looked like you were going the wrong way, thus going through 10B then 10A then up hill. RA would suck to run backwards.
I bet it was fun. I was going to do a PDX there last weekend but decided not to go.

Miatamaniac92 11-11-2008 05:59 PM

Top UP? Was it cold or track rules?

Chris

I asked if I could have the top down and they didn't know (tech guy) so I decided to just leave it up. I've also left the stock bumper on after the PDX... will probably stay on for awhile.

cjernigan- You should have... there weren't many cars out there so getting to go all out was rather easy!
