Cleaned up the motor and got everything swapped over from the old motor so here it is ready to go in the car.

Correct but I was asking what exactly happened. "Due to bad bearings" doesn't really say much (at least to me).

Was the motor fine but making noises indicating bearings were going, did it take a dump, etc?

I had gotten the car tuned but we had to stop tuning as the clutch was a stock NA RX7 clutch and it started to slip at 225whp on only 6psi. So I i drove the car around for a day then the motor started to make noises and stall. So my tuner looked at the car and said the rotor bearings took a dump. So i pulled the motor and took it apart. What i found was some one pulled the crank pulley off and the problem with taking the crank pulley off is the roller bearings in the front of the motor that are there to help control thrust play had moved out of place. When these bearings move out of place they grind them self to bits that ends up into the oil and into the rest of the motor.

The motor that is in there now i found on craigslist for 500 bucks. I finished up everything under the hood today and started her up sounds good and makes boost. Now i just need to finish up modding the downpipe and wait for the snow to melt so i can bring it to the tuner.

Sucks to lose the torrington bearings. Any time you take the front pulley bolt off either have someone in the car with their foot on the clutch (the entire time) or have the motor out and sitting on the flywheel. I almost lost a motor that way but caught it in time.

I had never considered doing a rotary swap into my miata, I have no idea why. I wonder who makes the mounts or if they have to be custom?

A TII trans is just as strong as an FD trans and will bolt up easier. You can get a custom clutch disc (check rx7club) that will fit the NA flywheel and Turbo trans. The clutch size isn't very different, like 10mm or something - I think they almost fit without modification.

The FD trans might be easier to attach to your PPF though, if you care about such things.

When tuning with that setup I'd keep the hood closed and watch intake temps. If they are getting too high consider making some sort of different turbo inlet duct. Just because your filter is right behind the rad, and we all know how much rotaries love detonation.
