NB vs S2000

I'm finally starting to get all the kinks worked out (hopefully) on my 10AE. I'm running on the wastegate now which is right around 7psi. I've got one of those "my s2000 will beat anything" friends that wanted to see how bad he would beat me. So naturally, I had to get a friend to record it. I thought I'd share:

Later in the night I got my ass handed to my by a SRT4 and a LS1 GTO, but I decided I wouldn't post that video. :loser: I'm trying to stay away from the boost controller as long as I can and that definitely did not help.

shuiend 06-20-2010 07:08 PM

Where was the S2k? Was it that slow ass thing with lights on behind you?

18psi 06-20-2010 07:12 PM

all it takes is 7psi. lol

wittyworks 06-20-2010 08:00 PM

wow im surprised the srt4 beat you, i pulled a few lengths on one a couple months ago when i was at 8psi, im pumped about 7psi beating a s2k though, LS1 GTOs are a different story for sure though

hustler 06-20-2010 08:09 PM

Your car is pretty slow in that vid.

turotufas 06-20-2010 08:27 PM

Murked

SneakyB757 06-20-2010 08:37 PM

if it takes 7psi to beat an s2k what can i beat with 15 lol

18psi 06-20-2010 08:41 PM

I have no problems with them at all;)

buffon01 06-20-2010 08:58 PM

The srt4 has boltons and has trapped 107 in the 1/4. I was actually expecting him to pull on me. The GTO moved a lot better than I thought it would, supposedly with just exhaust.

18psi 06-20-2010 09:15 PM

at 9psi I was slowly pulling on 105 trapping cars.
what is your setup? turbo? a little more details please.

pdexta 06-20-2010 09:27 PM

It's a bell S3 kit for my old NA that's been hacked up a bit so it works with the NB and AC; GT2560, megasquirt, cops, racing beat exhaust, and a tune that still needs some work.

GregTSi 06-20-2010 09:29 PM

very nice, there is a guy with a srt-4 here that claims he has like 400fwhp but won't race like a 280whp Miata.

I was going to ask where your NA was. Post some pics I want to see this AE

I've had the NB for a couple years as a stock daily driver. I have been having problems with the NA for a while, and couldn't figure out what was wrong with it. Finally got sick of it, parted it out and swapped the good stuff over to the NB and bought a 600rr.

NA shell leaves for it's new home:

Oh nice!

chicksdigmiatas 06-20-2010 09:46 PM

I think my na on 6psi is a little quicker, not trying to be a dick or start shit (for once), you did have an extra passenger though. Whats your toon lookin like?

Edit, your car is way nicer.

18psi 06-20-2010 09:51 PM

polish those headlights. clean up that bay. raise car about 1". and you're set.
looks good man:)
that color is gorgeous

na8psi 06-20-2010 09:51 PM

Very nice lookin' 10AE.
I run over bolt on/tuned SRT4s with a T3 on 10psi and rich basemap...no ignition tuning.

Could have been driver mod?

na8psi 06-20-2010 09:52 PM

Also, what roll did you go from with those cars?

18psi 06-20-2010 09:53 PM

t3 =/= 2560
10 =/= 7

otherwise yeah

Wouldn't surprise me, I just got the car running the tune needs a little work, still a bit rich. I'm sure my NB weighs a bit more than your NA too.

The bay definitely needs some work, I did give the headlights some love so they should be better now, and no way I could drive the car that low, it's probably 1.5" higher now. Thanks for the kind remarks. :bigtu:

Ehh, not too much I could have done better. T3 is definitely bigger than what I'm running. Also, there are so many tools out there with SRT4's that it's hard to judge what you're gonna get. When I had my old car I walked a GT35 SRT4 with an S2000 making 300whp, no way that should have happened.

25 roll for the S2000, I was in 2nd he was in 1st.

40 for the SRT4 and GTO, everyone in 2nd.

Fireindc 06-20-2010 11:37 PM

Nice. I yanked a s2000 last weekend by a few more car lengths than you at 10psi on a 1.6 with a diy tune.

What were the mods on that s2k? The one I raced had I/H/E.

Either way good fucking job.

hit up the guy in the GTO and SRT again and tell them make it a 20 roll :fawk: I promise you a different outcome.

Your car does look great, i wonder what mine will me like on 10-11 psi :)

flier129 06-26-2010 02:56 PM

I pulled a 06 Z by a car-ish at 7psi on my NA. I thoroughly enjoyed low boost, it was always surprising how fast it actually was.

You lost to that SRT4 because your car is too low :giggle:

I highly doubt that. Do you have a video or something?

I'm assuming he's talking about a Nissan

pusha 06-29-2010 08:08 PM

My bad. That would make more sense.

Fireindc 06-29-2010 08:09 PM

I was dead even with a 350z on my car running 5-6psi(wastegate), so sounds legit to me.

pusha 06-29-2010 08:12 PM

350Zs are pigs. I thought he was talking about a 2006 Z06.

I just cant get the fucking car NOT to move. I had it in fifth, with the hand-brake, and someone pressing the brake pedal, and I was still able to move the car :vash:. I ordered a crankshaft tool

I don't know how miatas are but on one of my hondas I tried everything you did. I even used the weight of the car dropping the car, with a hydraulic jack, on a breaker bar and also tried using the starter to crank the motor over with the breaker bar wedged between the crossmember and the firewall and it still, in the end, wouldn't come loose. Broke several sockets doing all of this ha.

I had to roll my car over to my neighbors house to get some help because I didn't have air tools at the time. He had a stout impact wrench that wouldn't take it off either. In the end I had to get an oxy acetylene torch to get the bolt red hot then hit it with an air gun to take it off. Spent more time trying to get the bolt off then I did on the rest of the timing belt job.

Sometimes the locktite they use from the factory, or the last mechanic, is stuck for good unless it gets hot enough. So it may be time to invest in a cheap map gas torch or get access to an oxy acetylene setup, but then again I hear a lot of good about those crank tools.

You bought the FM Crank tool? I bought one about a year ago, and it has been amazing. Well worth every penny spent on it.

buffon01 07-02-2010 09:22 AM

I'll keep this in mind in case the tool I ordered fails to do the job.

Put a 6 point socket on the thing, attach breaker bar turn engine until breaker bar touches frame, get in car bump starter, there you go crank bolt loose.

buffon01 07-10-2010 09:54 PM

I tried the starter jump, didnt work. I bought a tool, and all that shit is out. :D

hingstonwm 07-10-2010 10:50 PM

Was it rusted or just f'n tight?

buffon01 07-10-2010 11:05 PM

Tight, like an Asian virgin ;)

Even with the tool, it bended the A/C compressor bolt

miatamike 07-10-2010 11:13 PM

I once bent a wrench until it looked like a "C" (Trying to get the crank off an MGB) Turns out I was turning it the wrong way  (I was 15 BTW)
