Default Bomex Side mirrors...and a few cool pics.

I know I posted a couple of these in another thread....but figured I'd post some more to go with them and start another thread.

I have yet to find the pic I want to submit for the calendar..doh.

Anyway. I got some ricer Bomex mirrors from CR. I figure they look cool and reduce drag. I didn't want the typical "F1" style mirrors..didn't think they'd fit the car very well. So I picked these up i nDecember and had them painted and got around to installing them. Minor problem though. They are meant for RHD cars...thus making my driver's side the convex side and looking at it is like looking through a wide-angle lens If I had payed attention, I would have swapped the mirrors from side to side so they would be correct...oh well.

I took the first two pics Monday evening, edited and posted them on several forums. A lot of people thought the first picture looked like a toy car..aka tilt-shift. I didn't do it on purpose...it was a product of me trying to add some depth of field...and my process just kinda ended up kinda tilt-shifty. So today, I took more pics and actually wanted to really give a tilt-shift style picture a try and took the proper kind of shot to go along with it.

If pics seem dark, turn up the bightness on your screen

And one more "toy" picture...well... I hope, I can't see it too well because of my [still] funked up computer screen :(

OK OK OK OK OK OK OK OK OK Finally....closeup shots of the mirrors....

Profile shot from the front..

Nah, it looks good. That bolt on look kind of looks nice. Normally I don't like that type of thing.

All the mirror shots are OOC , but the first three are moderately post processed. Yes, all shots are from my S5.

I like the mirror itself, the flange for the bolts seems like it's way larger then it needs to be. Is that covering up the stock mirror flange?

I could do such terrible things with your post.

Are those the MAXX version of the rollbars, or the standard? What is your top clearance like?

Yess, it's the Maxx. Tried fitting a HT on and there was about 1/4" gap along the back. I got everything latched down, but it didn't seal.

Curly- That was the hardware I had available at the time I intalled them. I'll eventually get slightly lower profile hardware and paint the heads.

Thanks guys.

Looks really sweet, the bolts don't actually look that bad.

From what I've looked up, it's a little more than just "top and bottom". A real tilt-shift lens is a strange creature (it creates DOF in angles- not just left-to-right and has a wide angle lens), but the effect can be duplicated by several processes. It kinda involves moving the focal point off center and having the blur well blended so you don't see a hard line where it was added. It also works well with pics that have a lot of detail.

Here is the lens..

Phil, here are some other tilt-shift pictures (some real, some processed) so you can see what I'm talking about.

It makes everything look like a miniature. Your car looks like a toy in the first three pics and the 3 pics above look like train sets.
