Edit: damn it! Fudged the title. Should be "PPIHC" as in Pikes Peak International Hill Climb (Fixed, thanks mods!)
That's right guys, it's time for the most historic and awesome race in the US. Pikes peak! I'm going up this weekend (unfortunately not in the miata this year) and it should be SICK. Looking at the qualifying pictures there will be some MEAN machines there.
Sebastien Loeb.. already broke the record in practice this year:

Defending champ Rhys Millen is coming back ina brand new unlimited class car to defend his title:

mid engined mini

nice looking porsche

Sick looking evo

Electric bikes class this year.. wut!?

Monster Tajima and his electric car. Last year his car caught on fire and burnt to the ground.. didn't get to make a clean pass.

500whp mini van.. LOL

uh... /drool. these group B cars were the craziest things to watch. So awesome to see this machinery in person.

The toyobaru entries this year look promising:

This.. is a VERY custom polaris rzr with 450whp. WOW.

Tons of unlimited class custom tube frame cars:

Ken gushi. This thing sounded AMAZING last year:

Tons of awesome bike entries.

I went last year and it was the single most awesome automotive event I have ever been to. Like any true "rally" race you can stand where ever the hell you want, even on the outside of a turn if you wish to risk your life. Being less than 5 feet from some of these 1000whp monsters as they rip through the canyon was just insane. Will be going up this weekend and camping on the old ski resort which is half way up the hill approximately near the "devils playground"
Can't wait! I'll take mucho pics and vids and update this thread when the time comes. If anyone else will be up there, PM me and we should meet up!

You forgot to mention that the 550whp minivan is being driven by Indy car driver Simon Pagenaud.
And from the same team, an ex Le Mans quad-charged NSX, being driven by some hack...
My money is on the minivan doing a faster time than the NSX...

That Evasive 86 was making north of 400whp with an HKS centrifugal supercharger, as I recall.
One car I don't think I saw mentioned was Jeff Zwart's turbocharged Porsche GT3. Not quite as heroic as when he drove the GT2 1100+ miles from Southern California, but still pretty interesting.

Right in my back yard, can see the mountain from my driveway
Fanfest tonight downtown, always a good chance to see some of the cars up close and swill a few beers. Fireindc and hrk, let me know if you guys are around. I'm not heading up to the race but will be around tomorrow.

HRK, definitely get ahold of matthew. he's awesome and his car has a blessed turbo kit on it.
Edit: Matthew, Y U NO come hang out on the mountain. Have you seen these cars on the mountain in person yet? Trust me.. it's a lot more entertaining than you seem to think. I was not bored a single second last year, and the race was not done until dark.. which is apparently longer than it has ever taken due to all the wrecks.
Thank you Matthew for showing me around in Friday night. Good Beers were consumed!

I got this picture of the winner of the 450 SM class almost going off the road on his class winning run.

The guy was seriously less than an inch from going into that 12"+ ditch. It was awesome.
