R32 Picture
 

Was taking some pictures of my buddys R the other day, this one came out pretty nice. Let me know what you all think.

I can't see the car.

Uhhh... It is in the picture?

But only part of it and why is it at a tilt?

I guess I don't know too much about photography but The car is on a slope and I put the tripod flat on the slope. Just thought it looked cool without straightening it out. I like it for being different than your normal car posing picture.

I straightened it out and didn't like the look. Guess we just have different taste :)

The horizon looks cool. The shot would make a good desktop pic but if you want to show off the car, it helps to have it 100% in the picture. :)

Not criticizing at all. I know for a fact that the best my photography skills will ever evolve to are taking pictures of my genitals with my cellphone....and sometimes of my poop to show off how great I did.

It's a cool picture, just curious why the entire car wasn't in it and you explained thoroughly!

I'd crop it closer from the left so you can get out that distracting light. Also picture is crooked. White balance is also quite off. Nice shot, though.

Looks like poop.....I guess it's OK for a camera phone, but nothing special. Tilted horizons are a no-no. Kinda noisy.

That's not photography, that's compesition. An angled car picture isn't being orginal, it's overdone and very played out. While angles can be interesting, in this instance it looks like the camera snapped off as the tripod fell over. The subject, IMHO, should almost never be facing the near edge of the photo, and most definitely not chopped in half like that.


The actual photography has room for improvement :)

What did you use for lighting? Did you light paint the subject?
What iso? I'd have gone a lower iso with a longer exposure.
The car is out of focus.
You have a lens flare on the edge.
Watermarks are for pros.

I'd have shot there with a 100 iso and held the shutter open for a few seconds.

Experiment with lighting sources, in the shot below, I took the LED "flashlight" of my cell phone and run it down the edge of the car and back to highlight the car.

Looks like I did this at f/7.1, 20sec exposure, and 400iso.

IIRC I brought it into PS and blended two different shots, where one looked better on the rear half of the car, and the other the front/wheels. and I increased the blacks in the background.

Thanks for the tips. That was the pretty first time I ever taken a camera off auto mode. Honestly I was just messing around with the settings that day. I reset all the setting and actually opened my camera manual and read some info about all the settings. My understanding of it is a touch better. But I know better now not to post up any photos until they are half way decent.

I paint and draw on my own time and watermark those. I guess I just thought you are suppose to. I didn't do it thinking some one would use it for anything. I want to get into photography so thanks again for the tips.

I personally would have made the top of the frame parallel with the horizon and shifted the image to the right such that the car is visible at least up to the center of the grill. It's fine to emphasize only part of a vehicle in your photo. As the photographer, you have that right. However, in this photo, the car doesn't look like the subject--it just happens to be there. As for light painting, throwing some light at the front and side of the car with a decent flash light over the couse of a long exposure would make for a big improvement and it wouldn't require you to buy any additional equipment.

Sometimes you can get lucky if you pay attention to lighting and not need to "paint".....but I'd work on understanding various settings (ISO, f, and shudder speed) before worring about other techniques.

Night picture using building lighting...you just have to watch for the reflections. It would have been nice to get some more light on the nose, it's not a super shot by any means, but demonstrates my point.

Pretty much read the manual cover to cover. When you say reflections do you mean the reflections of whats around the car and will appear the car?
