I don't like that these folks voted....

just found this video humorous, that's all.

levnubhin 11-19-2008 11:26 AM

Dosen't surprise me, but im sure you could find just as many stupid people who voted for McCain. It really is a shame how many people vote but dont know who or what their voting for.

exactly. you could have spun it around, asked a mccain supporter similar questions and got just the same ignorant responses.

The How Obama Got Elected website should just point to this:

I did too actually. I'm pretty sure our failing education system doesn't discriminate along party lines though. Trailer park or ghetto, take your pick. Trailer parks are just less densely populated.

I thought the Indians wore our sworn enemies and we had to stop them at all costs.

i would have looked like an ass if they were interviewing me too. ooops.

I used to be highly critical of the electoral college...

...until I realized how fucking stupid the general public is. Their mental capabilities restrict their ability to choose what their next meal is going to be, let alone who should run the country. Thank god for the Electoral College.

miatamoxie 11-19-2008 01:48 PM

The beautiful thing about America is that everybody gets to vote. No matter how stupid or intelligent they are, or how ignorant they choose to be, or how poor they are or how much money they have...or just that they like Palin's legs, everybody gets to vote and no matter the reason they vote for one person over the other, their vote is valid.

That doesn't mean that I don't cringe when I hear people talk about politics!

Also, I think that purposefully not voting is completely different from forgetting to vote: If you don't vote specifically because you consciencely decided you didn't like any of the candidates...that is effectively a vote for none of the above. I only think somebody is a lame-ass if they forgot to vote or didn't care about voting.

No bones about it, I'm pretty conservative. The people that did the poll related to that video need to do the same poll with the same questions and parameters with McCain voters. Would be interesting to see the results.

I believe that left leaning people listen, watch and read left leaning media. Right wingers the same with right wing media. Unfortunately the supposed right wing Fox presented far more balanced information about the candidates than NBC, CNN, newspapers or the other large news and media outlets. People leaning left simply did not get much negative history or information about Obama. Sure, there was plenty of coverage about his pastor, that was too sensational not to cover. Didn't see much else negative about him though (not that negatives don't exist, they simply weren't covered). Voters heard plenty negative about McCain and Palin though. It was interesting in this Poll that something like 86% of the people, when they didn't know the answer to a negative question, automatically put it on McCain/ Palin.

I know "oooh there's no left wing media bias any more"! Of course there's plenty of right wing media but it's all AM radio. Fox's numbers for balanced coverage of the campaigns were terrific. Negative to positive coverage of both candidates was almost identical. NBC, CNN, etc were so far left leaning in coverage it was scary.

Anyway that all adds up to voters who lean left to start with simply didn't get exposed to negative information about Obama, his past or his positions.

Note to self, if asked questions on camera, do not lie, dont guess, just say I dont know. Id rather look like I dont pay attention then look like a complete dumbass.

miatamoxie 11-19-2008 02:03 PM

I guess I'm one of those weird left leaning people:

All media is pretty polarized one way or the other, that's why I purposefully subject myself to Fox news (who coincidentally changed their slogan from "Fair and Balanced" to "We report, you decide") as much as I did to other "news" durring the cam_pain_. You are never going to expand your horizons if you only pay attention to the stories that make you feel all warm and fuzzy, and you'll also become a nut-job conspiracy theorist if you believe all the extreme stuff from both sides.

Fox news put the shine on McCain as much as others put it on Obama, so somewhere in between is the truth.

and icantthink4155 above is exactly right.^^

And here's an interview with the guy who made the video.

My vote is worthless. I knew VA was going to lean left, and my vote doesn't matter. And I didn't feel like voting for McCain the democrat and Obama the democrat. No-one gets up on stage and gives a straight answer anymore; imagine if Lincoln gave his emanssination proclamation today, we wouldn't know what the fuck he was trying to accomplish.

This thread wasn't to start a left/right debate, but I simply found the answers to the questions funny in regards to the interesting approach of covering the "news" in the media, and what some of these people really "know." I get bothered annoyed by Hippie girls that Sharpie OBAMA on their shirt's and don't know shit from piss, hell, I hardly watch the news, I hardly care enough to go ruin a good undershirt, and I know more about what's going than all of them combined.

Anyways, the video is still funny.

scott, you should vote anyway, even if it's throw away. for example: you write in a candidate by the name of "two party suckage" or something. or vote for the libertarian. it's a statement, but at least not for R or D.

I haven't watched the video yet to be honest. But it doesn't take a genius to cherry pick idiots on any side. We've all seen the WV contingent videos, amirite? :)
