Where's the radiator?

My favorite part:
"Slithering through the slalom at 70.4 mph makes the Miata faster than a 2009 Porsche Carrera S Cabriolet. Road-holding, on heat-cycled, flat-spotted rubber, was better than other $500 cars we've driven, at 0.89g. Braking, at 135 feet from 60, is 14 feet shorter than a 2009 Honda Pilot and that's without ABS and on those same crap tires."

I also recognized the Author's name: Josh Jacquot, cool.

To keep fuel pressures down to a level where we can beat on the car for an entire race with inpunity without risking a hose rupture. We're running a Vortech FMU that a mt.net member sent me for free, or something close to it.

When we first ran the turbo, boost would creep to 7-8 psi by redline. Our fuel pressure would go off the charts, well beyond what the fuel supply hose is rated for.

Then I "tuned up" the wastegate port in the turbine housing using a die grinder. Now we have a rock-solid 3.5 psi boost all the way to redline and fuel pressures that we can live with for an entire endurance race.

I think the engine would easily handle more 8psi in endurance. As for fuel, im guessing you guys are running on stock injectors?

Stock 1.8 injectors with FMU + bipes. The engine might handle more, but the fuel hose won't. At least, not without some amount of risk.

Isnt the fuel hose rated to 100psi?

If you guys are interested, I may be able to get you guys some injectors. However, only what comes on a FoMoCo vehicle. Interested?

Slight larger injectors may let you run under 100psi but have more fuel for the extra boost.

Something like that. If I recall correctly, we're running close to 100psi fp now.

We'll probably leave it as-is. Low boost has its advantages--our cooling system can cope with the thermal loads, our EGTs are good and our fuel consumption decent.

Woo-hoo! My vortech fpr is in an Edmunds article!

I love the brake rating: frustrating.

I'll see you guys at Thunderhill in my 1400lb Daihatsu Charade on Jay-approved Konis and some $50 ebay coilover sleeves.

I love that car and its evolution towards a Caddy was a great choice!
