From 0 to Hero in 6 months
Just thought I'd introduce myself
So I have a tendency to go b*lls deep when I take on a new project. Last November I picked up a 1994 Miata with 100K miles on it in really good condition. No rust, new soft top, interior has been looked after well. Generally in remarkable shape for a car in Canada that is 21 years old. I bought it as kind of a toy side project. I come from having a couple Subaru WRX-STI's (06 and 09) as well as a 1986 VW Golf Rally car. Anyway the idea was to slowly upgrade the car and not really put any money into it because it was a cheap toy (relative to the others). Right off the bat things needed changing. The steering wasn't as tight as I like....full poly bushing swap out, proper rack depowering, new lower ball joints, new tie rods (inner and outer). Since I had all the control arms off mise well get them powder coated right? Then the suspension was a little to tired for me, FM Vmax with FM swaybars and endlinks. Now the ride is where I like it...well except the tires are pretty meh so new 17" rims (I hear I will regret this on a NA) and new performance summer rubber. Even with the crappy tires the car is pretty damn fun for what I have invested in it....yet...here I am. I put the deposit on a exocet frame last week it'll take 6 months to be built though. Tomorrow the order goes in for the FM II turbo kit and a minor brake upgrade. Looking forward to the information in the forums. Are exocets still welcome here or are they the ugly step child of miata's? |
Welcome to the site trenon, thanks for joining up!

Looks like you're off to a great start.
Ditch the 17" rims though asap! You and your suspension will be very happy :bigtu: *Also known to potentially cure ED |
