1999 Track Project/ Resto/ First Miata

Hey everybody,

My name is Nick and I am located in Boston. I have always been into cars and never owned anything RWD until earlier this week. My friend bought an NB2 last fall and I eventually had the chance to drive the little car. Well, let's just say it was a blast despite its power. The car to me sounded great, looked good enough, and more importantly handled amazing. I owned many Audi's and daily a Focus ST all which have been very fast but no where near as fun! Finally this week my friend and I bought a 99 with mismatching body work as a project/ track car. (His NB2 is perfect and does not want mod or track it). I will add pictures later, but it only has 120k miles, runs extremely well, has an exhaust, and an intake, and minimal rust. Some panels were plastidipped because of peeling clear coat. The side skirts have grey primer, and the car is originally dark blue. It is a 5 speed but has it's negatives. For one it is on 14" winter wheels and tires! The steering wheel is wrapped in what seems to be athletic tape, and the car looks especially square with all of the different colors.

What I want to do first?

I would like to find some cheap 15" wheels and tires in the Boston area up to a few hours away until I'm ready to buy lightweight wheels and track oriented tires. I would also like to buy an OEM leather wheel until I install race seats, harnesses, and a harness bar because then I will be installing an OMP flat bottom wheel. I would also like to try and find an NB2 bumper and headlights so I can wrap the car either Riviera Blue, bright orange, or a viper green. I don't want to wrap the current bumper just to uninstall and then have to wrap the new one.

I look forward to using this site a lot as I plan on building either a Turbo or S/C 250 whp reliable track car!

If you want 250whp reliable track hp, I hope you have about $10k to spend on the turbo setup and motor. Not including everything else that is needed on the car to support that power on the track.

Thankfully I have assumed a total investment car aside of 10-15k over the next several years. I plan on building it from the ground up. Picking up 15x9 Advanti wheels tonight. Then my focus will shift to brakes, suspension, and interior. I want the turbo setup to be the final part of the process.

One question... will the 15x9 Advanti Storm S1 fit on a stock NB? I plan on doing wheel studs and appropriate lugs, but for now the wheels will just allow me to get the snows off the car, and drive it about 200 miles round trip between registration and leaving it at a garage nearby.
Thanks!

At stock ride heights or slightly lowered the 15x9s should fit no problem.
