8 PSI and learning

New here, with a '02 LS with BPR S/C, RB header and muffler, KW coil overs and 6ULs.

Sadly, I'm a bone head and spun rod bearing #1. The crank is on the garage floor waiting a replacement or trip to the machine shop.

What did you do, run low on oil?

Too much timing.

Lol wut? That usually makes the pistons look like there was a screw bouncing around in there. I've never heard of spinning a bearing cause of too much timing.

its possible. takes quite a bit to do that though lol

Well I can't say I really know for sure. I originally thought it was because I had broken a balancer bolt but when I weighed the broken bolt head it was only 5.9 grams. I had just replaced the timing belt and front crank seal (3 times on that part thus the bone head comment) and had managed to change the seal without removing the valve cover. As I was pulling the motor I found that while the lower section of belt seemed tight the top section between pulleys was very loose but had not jumped a tooth and still had 19 teeth between marks. But I had been having a P0012 code and P0300 code and I had installed an adjustable timing wheel in the process. So... take your pick.

I agree with the oil statement but I have no idea how that could be. No reason to suspect the oil pump and the main bearings are in fine shape while the rod bearings are toasty and number one spun and the journal is eccentric.
