You sound like a billion other dreamer noobs that like to talk about this and that without much substance. We don't care about the engine itself: its old and not impressive, and actually even older technology than our already pretty mediocre engines. Have you swapped one into a miata? How many engine swaps have you done in a miata? If I'm coming off harsh, its because literally 1% of n00bs that claimed all sorts of things around here actually did them or even know what they're talking about. The others are just like "yeah yeah fasho bro's I'ma swap dis here motor and dat dere setup and have a sweet JDM-Tyte whip y0" If you are already in the middle of this swap and have pictures/proof then disregard this post and post up your build :) |

You seem to think you're the first person to go down this road. There's a damn good reason that you don't see very many crazy engine swaps into Miatas other than the LS1 conversions. (HINT: FABRICATION)
But by all means, go ahead and swap a N/A Toyota engine in. And then enjoy getting your ass handed to you by much cheaper turbo setups of that god-awful fragile BP engine. |

I'll be interested to see how this turns out. I will disagree that this will be a cheaper route though. The BP is not an expensive engine to build and it already fits perfectly in the car. The engine you are going to swap is going to need all sorts of custom fabrication in order to make it work with whatever transmission you plan to use.
It is going to produce 200hp NA at the end which is not impressive so all of the shit you are going to go through to get it there is just kind of a waste. If you succeed then power to you but I have a feeling you will part this out at some point. None of your other engine swaps listed seemed to be anywhere near the level that this is going to be. |

No the Rolla started out as a 1UZ V8 swap but changed it to a Turboed 3TC build..

Anyways, an n/a 3tc is about as big a pile of steaming shitty fail as an n/a 1.6 miata motor would be.
It sucks. Bad. 3TCs are useful for one thing, and one thing only. Swallowing MASSIVE amounts of boost. If you're doing a 3TC swap and your plans don't involve a huge turbo, then you're pretty much failing at life by all accounts. Did you really think that www.miataTURBO.net would suck your dick over plans to swap an n/a 3TC into a Miata? |
