'91 NA6 with DIY Flyin' Miata Turbo System

Hi everyone,

My name's Kyle. I am a mid-20's something or other living in the Denver, CO area where emissions compliance is a must. I have had my turd of a '91 NA6 since march of 2019. This my my first RWD car and my first true project car, so I have been learning to drive and work on cars all at the same time. It has been great fun.

I have mainly focused my upgrades around regional STS class autocross, which I have been participating in the last 2 years. Over the initial COVID lockdown I got bored and decided i was going install a run of the mill Flyin' Miata DIY system with Megasquirt 2 PnP. I went from really liking this car to LOVING this car with only 7 psi of boost and street tuning (thanks tuner studio). The only problem is I've run one event in XS-B and got smoked, but still had fun. Now I am here to learn more about my car and how to optimize it reliably, as well as make great use of the classifieds section.

General Build Info:
-Grey '91 NA6
-Stock 6" open diff (upgrade priority #1)
-Garrett GT2560r @ 7 psi
-Stock Injectors
-MS2 PnP
-Flyin' Miata exhaust manifold, downpipe connected to stock cat
-Megan racing EZ street II coil overs (upgrade priority #2)
-Hard Dog Hardcore M2 Roll Bar
-Racing Beat tubular front sway bar
-15"x7" Enkei RPF1, 205 width Bridgestone RE71R

Cheers,

Nice car, it looks like you are having a lot of fun with it. A recurring theme for Miata drivers. How are the roads around Denver? There is a good chance I'll be moving out there for work in the future.

I definitely recommend the move, it's a great place to live. I grew up in central North Carolina and moved out here not too long ago, so that's my only comparison. In town around here the road surface tends to be pretty mangled, mainly because of snow/ice and removal operations. The prevalence of older concrete roadways makes for a somewhat jarring ride in places. However, it is just a quick 15-30 drive to some awesome canyon roads.

Nice! Welcome. I'm in the process of installing the same kit myself. I also have a MS3Pro PNP and some flow force injectors on the way. Have you use the auto tune feature of the tuner studio?

I am still working with the free versions of Tuner Studio and MegaLogViewer, so no auto tune yet. I've been capturing individual data logs and running it through the VE Analyze function. I will probably get into the auto tune soon though for convenience.

Oh wow. I definitely want to learn how to do that prior to using autotune! I've watched plenty of videos, but its all just jibber jabber until I've got it in front of me too. I'm excited!
