G'day all.
I have had my NA8 for almost 11 years.
A little over 2 years ago she was dead-stock, and I used to aim to keep her that way because unmodified cars fetch a considerably higher resale price.

Due to the fact that used car prices have fallen through the floor, 2 years ago I decided that she is a keeper, and henceforth the modification begun in earnest. ;)

My first mod was an uprated front anti-sway bar, and my latest mod is a Mazdaspeed IRTB kit.

The metalic bit it just the heat-shield made by ACL. The actual filter itself is this thingy:
