Default forum newb

i'm new to this forum only, been on message boards since 2000, so i know how it goes on the average, despite what some people have told me in the 7.5 swap thread :rainbow:

NO i don't currently have a miata, i'm looking for a 94/95 with a possibly blown motor

the only reason i am looking twords a miata is because i wanted to put one of my spare lq9/t56's in a light car with IRS, the miata platform seemed to be the most fun swap to do, so i plan one out and price it first, so far i have tabulated my current swap ideas for MY monster miata

when all you auto-x guys look at this and shake your head keep in mine MY number one goal is go fast track/streetcar straight line performance FIRST, everything else second only to safety.

making my own subframe front and rear
6.0 lq9 bored .010 over with stock rods and arp 2000 bolts, hyperutectic speedpro pistons with a lube skirt, ms3 magicstick cam (113lsa), 32lb marine 8.1 injectors, 243 heads worked over, yella terra rockers, reworked stock 99-02 truck engine harness and 02 computer, custom aluminum sheet metal aluminum intake similar to the tunnel ram that edelbrock just released with a 90mm throttle body. (this engine still needs machine work and built, all parts are sourced and ready)
t-56 i already rebuilt with the carbon blockers and upgraded viper steel shiftfork, billet keys and bronze fork pads on all synchros except reverse (stock brass blocker instaid of carbon) of course stock 02 camaro slave with a stainless braided line
not decided on clutch or brake master cyl i will cross that bridge in mock up
ditching ABS completely adding custom stainless braided hoses on all 4 corners
7.5 rearend with 3.73's ish, locking diff and custom axles (why i was in the 7.5 diff thread asking for prices)
i plan on running 16" bbs style wheels with the 5x4.5 pattern
11.5" front rotor and the 4 piston fd rx7 brake caliper and severe duty pads and a machined knuckle spacer to run cobra front hubs.
stock 99 ford cobra rear brakes and t-bird 28 spline 7.5 hubs and stock 95 t-bird rear bearings (going to overbore the miata knuckles .080"ish over to accept the bearing and forward brace the knuckle if necessary)
if the rear setup fails under playtime i'm going to go with the 8.8 and keep the 28 spline 7.5 axles and run 95 cobra knuckles hubs and rear brakes and make custom upper and lower arms with machined derlin bushings (trying to avoid this because of the cost involved)
i plan on fabricating my own subframe connectors that will tie in the front and rear subframes and not just stiffen the chassis under the driver compartment
i will most likely just have the driveshaft made locally
stock fuel tank with walbro pump, corbeau seats with 5 points, custom rollcage that fits under the stock vert top, i'd like a hardtop if i can find a good used one

as i said earlier i'm on step one
1 - price project and prove reliability
2 - buy car
3 - finish gathering odd parts
4 - strip car completely
5 - mock up paint and powder coating
6 - swap
7 - test flog car and enjoy

any comments, questions, constructive criticizem and words of encouragement welcomed anything else you can shove up your opinion hole.

This forum is great with helping people source vehicles... but with no LOCATION in your PROFILE, no locals can hook you up.

Also, that list of stuff is incredibly hard to read with no capitalization or punctuation. What I got out of it was that you're looking at about a 500whp smallblock swap with all the supporing goodies. I'd love to see your pricesheet and a timeline for the build.

i'll go add location to the profile right now

i will start a build thread as soon as i get the car, odds are progress will be kind of slow going because of all the fab work i'm going to do myself, i'm not going to buy any premade kits.

going to look at a tig welder this weekend, 500$ for a thermal arc 185 barely used, friends uncle, has no idea what to do with it.
