Default Greeting from Issaquah Washington!

Hey all!
I joined up a while ago to read, learn and plan my build. I figured it is time to say hello!

I've got a 1992 1.6L

First thing i bought for the project was a MSPNP2, and got the car running. Then i deleted the AFM (stupid thing) and bought some 610cc injectors, and started re-tuning the fuel tables.

(Also i recently upgraded tuner studio and started using auto tune...love it!)

Still a ways out before i fit up the turbo, i'd like to re-do the whole exhaust anyways to 3 inch as well as some body work and a respray.

Anyways, i look forward to learning more and eventually having a turbo Miata!

Welcome. Sounds like you're on the right track. There are a good number of us in Portland and a few up in your area too.

Thanks guys!
Aidandj - do alot of you do AutoX or track days down there? eventually i want to get into that. I know we've got some events in the Seattle area.

The weather was merciful after work last night, so i took the car out for a bit to do some auto tuning, boy it is running rich! Idle is a steady 14.7 @ 950 rpm currently but i need to keep working on everything above 3K RPM. Baby steps, can't wait till summer when its warmer and the sun stays up longer!

Updates Time!

Car is running pretty well, still lots to do!
recent acquired parts include:
E-Bay special cast manifold (Making a custom down pipe)
1.6 protege valve cover, cause why not?
Waiting to find the elusive t3 churbo everyone seems to run (MK Turbo kit?), sounds like they are out of stock with no ETA...in the mean time i did find this guy, but i'm not sure on the brand...it seems to be hit or miss, but i read the same about a cx racing one...:Since i am close to sticking the turbo bits on, i may just pick one up and be a guinea pig.
For Turbo Charger T3 Internal Wastegate com 42 A R 45 Trim 48A R | eBay

Oil pan is drilled and tapped, plugged for now.
Next up on the list it a full 3 inch exhaust with V-Bands to make it easy to swap in my turbo/down pipe.

One thing i noticed during tuning, my injectors are very, very loud..they are the flow force i got brand new from nigelt..everything appears to be working, but i can hear them very clearly from inside the car..and yes, i verified no exhaust leak and it is not lifter tick. Is this normal for these?

Also! i have a problem, a Miata problem...my DD was getting old a costing more than buying a new car...so i did what any normal Miata owner would do... i went out and got another one! I picked myself up a 2016 ND sport, yes a sport.. I did not want a 7 inch touch screen and buttons where my shifting arm rests! First thing i did was add a Goodwin Racing muffler to wake up the sound, next i will be getting some lowering springs - no i am not slamming it, just want to lower a little for a better look.

I am about 95% sure that is the correct turbo. I have not got confirmation on the phone, but the specs to match exactly the last 11 I bought from them according to eBay, and this is about the time frame I was told they would be getting more.

Nice, thanks! I'll pick one up and we'll see! They don't list what the waste gate is set to..i assume around 7-8 for these smaller T3s?

Good to know, they tick pretty good but i haven't had trouble with them..I'm thinking about deleting the air valve on the intake manifold, the Protege valve cover i got has a plug already in place where i would run the hose to...think i'll just keep it plugged..

Turbo is on the way, should be here by next Thurs-Fri..I'll take some pictures for you, maybe these are a match for what you run in your kit.

I typically avoid pointing people towards club roadster, but come join us in the PDX lounge if you haven't already.

Talk to me about the hard top. Any parts you're after?

It's a brg OEM hardtop i bought 3 years ago for $1100, defrost was working last year but i haven't used it in a while..toying with the idea of posting it for sale. An extra $1000 would go a long way in my project, and i will only be driving this car in sunny weather so i really don't need a hardtop anymore..but i'm not 100% i want to give it up either.

Turbo came in, looks to be a match to what you have for the MKTurbo kit.

Pull off the shiny compressor housing and measure the compressor wheel. Then I can tell you if it matches or not.
