Can I attach a turbo to myself? San Diego noob.

If so, is there a kit you recommend?

Been lurking here for quite some time, figure I might as well be able to open picture attachments :)

I've owned this 1.6 for a few years now. Bought at 122k miles from an elderly woman (she listed it as 155k) and I've put around 20k on it myself. I've wanted to boost it, but there's just no way of justifying spending double what I spent buying the car, making the car go faster.

Yet here I am, MS2PNP and UEGO in hand, ready to get started.

yes, you must install in your butt hole so it spools when you fart.

Any tips for passing smog with an anus turbo?

LOL, kind of gives a whole new meaning to passing the sniffer test.

Don't the pre-OBDII cars still need to pass visual inspection? Are you getting a CARB legal kit? Eventually I'll have to register mine to CA (also in SD) but I have an '02 with an MS3 so not looking too good for me.

Careful though, boost gets addicting.

Been lurking a while and has no idea what kit might be good. Excellent.

I have no idea if I would pass visual inspection with an MSPNP2, which is why I'm waiting until smog in April to start. I am considering FM's CARB legal kit, but only if I'm able to fly under the radar with my MSPNP2 instead of FM's piggyback.

Edit: remove comment about OBD, I thought this was an NB for some reason.

The MS isn't legal, but is unlikely to be noticed by itself. Some of the supporting mods for it are more apparent though (remove flapper door)

Can you elaborate? I was going to make a post about passing with just megasquirt and no obd2.

Is it really true that this is a little old lady car in my garage? ........I’m crushed! The CL add never disclosed that.

That's what I'm saying.. After all of this I could have been in a MUSTANG

Just buy a spare AFM plug.

just tape the bare wires from the plug in with the rest of the loom, so it looks like they actually do something, despite literally leading nowhere.

The AFM will still be there, and look OEM, but wont actually do anything (well, except choke airflow with the crap flappy door, but it does that from factory anyway)

Gotcha. I may still play it safe and wait until after I smog it - still plenty of research left to do.

The title is misleading at best, go read it. " Can I attach a turbo TO MYSELF"

on a more serious note, California is getting even more strict on things like this. More than a few smog stations are in trouble and handing fraudulent cars straight to the authorities on the matter. My buddy now has 2 dedicated track cars, because in one fell swoop the smog man flipped on him, and they are unlikely to ever pass the ref. They told him that if he reverses EVERYTING, chances are low to ever be reinstated as legal.

Well I hope for your sake that you weren't mislead by the anus turbo discussion - those were also jokes.

Agreed. I don't plan on pulling one over on the smog people. Absolute last resort.
