Default Hello from a mid-engine guy

I'm more of a mid-engine guy myself but it looks like I'll be helping a friend with a conversion of his Miata to a high horsepower electric and it looks like there's some good racing info on this site.

Thanks Rick, it appears this is a group of horsepower hungry race-a-holics and there's lots of info to glean!

That is generally what we are. Give us more info about what you are planning on doing with this miata you are helping to build.

Ooooh you are on the right track! Happy to hear that somebody here has heard of the Zombie! For those that don't know, White Zombie is a fully street legal 1972 Datsun with twin electric motors and now with a pair of Kokam Lithium-Polymer batteries he runs low 10s in the quarter mile!

http://www.plasmaboyracing.com/whitezombie.php

My friend's Miata is will be running the same 640kW Zilla 2,000 amp motor controller that the White Zombie uses but the Miata will not have more than one motor and he's not intending it to be as fast. Just still a very respectable car and one that handles not only in a straight line but also at the track. Plus he likes his Miata and wants to use it as a daily driver only without the gas engine.

Right now its got the stock manual transmission and I'm wondering how much some of the Turbo Miata guys are pumping through the stock tranny?

Not a lot in the way of torque. How much torque will the electric motor(s) make?
