Default Texas De-noober!!

How is it going? Hope everyone is weathering the recession. I am from the DFW area. South of FW. I have a '96 SM that I am wanting to boost. I instruct for several organizations and have decided not to race my SM. I built it from my personal street car and it is in pristine condition. Since I am only going to use it for DE's, it makes sense to boost it. Still trying to figure out s/c vs Turbo and what would be best for my purpose. I plan on learning much from this forum. All advice is appreciated. I figure that once my car is boosted, I can go play with the high HP cars...

Trust but verify,
Alan

Maybe. I hope not to have to change the suspension for a while. I might revalve the bilsteins. Also, I need to figure out what braking concerns will need to be alleviated.

turbo ftw. none of my friends that had supercharger's were very happy with them. throwing belts, bad gas mileage, were just a few. i'm sure there are some that have had good experiences, but i haven't met any. whenever you see a supercharger for sale, the guy says ''it's great, but i'm going turbo, i just want a little more power''

Well, that is what I am trying to decide. My biggest concern is I ONLY track my car and I am wanting to find a boosted system that will give me reliability and NO OVERHEATING ISSUES!!!! I am in the middle of researching the overheating issue....

Welcome over here. You're gonna want to put your location in your profile and update your signature to include your car specs.

I don't know why more Miatas aren't just running EVANs waterless. Cheaper and easier than alot of the resolutions.

I'm doing this if I have any more issues on track.

Pound for pound turbo is going to give you more power. I haven't seen any successful ones myself either but I'm sure that people have done it successfully before. You will need to keep a careful eye on the engine temperature due to how small the engine block is it's will overheat faster than a larger block size. A bigger radiator can help with cooling issues.
