Hi I'm Tom and I'm new or a noob I guess. I live in South Dakota which makes it harder than hell to find anything. I'm currently looking to buy a miata and maybe one day swap a small block V8 into it. If not that then a SR20DET. Right now I only have enough to but the car and planning to just mount a turbo. Besides that there really noting more I can say.

Welcome aboard Tom. I'm sure living in South Dakota doesn't make it harder to find anything than living overseas and I've managed

Welcome. I would suggest some reading here. Some of these guys have achieved some pretty impressive numbers with the stock engine block. One of the real benefits to the Miata is the light weight of the package and the balance. Don't assume that you will need to install a different engine to achieve your performance goals, properly done you can have your HP and keep the car's balance, too.

Good luck!

There's no replacement for displacement.

We won't argue the merits of engine swaps here. There are other places where that is appropriate, but if you get serious about the swap then shoot me a message. You'll have fun with a turbo car. I'm currently at 300hp/325tq and looking to supercharge to 400hp/400tq. But, any ponies that you can add to the lightweight miata will be enormously enjoyed.
