Hey everybody. Long time lurker, finally posting. I've got a highly bastardized '91 BRG with a JRSC (which I know is less than popular around these parts ;)), but I have a good time with it. I modified/fabbed a different set of pulleys/brackets to allow it to run without PS or AC. A lot less parasitic loss and requires about half of the belt tension. It's been great thus far. Right now it's just running on bandaids but the PNP comes in a couple weeks.

I also have a bit of an obsession with weight reduction...

Glad to be here.

Whoa, that is some weight reduction. Is the car street driven? If so, how do you deal with ventilation? I have not seen one with vent controls deleted yet!

Welcome to the forum!

BTW, I am intrigued by the center exit exhaust. Do you have details on that?

BlownRoadster 05-03-2009 01:32 PM

Yeah, it's a semi-daily. I have a Ranger that's the true daily, but most nice days spring through fall I'll drive the Miata to work. If it rains, you're riding with the windows down to avoid fogging. I check the forecast often. :D

The center exit is something I had made at a local shop. I always loved the look of the Elan's center exit, so I cut the bumper to make it symmetrical and got a 2.5 in. header-back made. It has a 12 inch resonator in place of the cat, and a 2.5/4in. flexpipe below the diff because the muffler is practically solid mounted to the trunk floor utilizing the factory drain plug holes. Muffler is a Flowmaster Super 40 2.5 in/twin 2.25 out. It's pretty raspy but I love the sound of a chambered muffler as opposed to a straight-through.
