failtastic.
Hey, names Andrew, Live in orlando, FL.
finally getting the money next week to pick up an Na miata [1.8] been into racing for about 5 years or so now, mainly drifting. I'm on a few other forums such as sfldrifters.com/240sx.net im really into drifting, and i know a miata is going to be a good challenge, especially with it's short wheel base and all. As soon as i pick up the car i'll post pics.... there's nothing to special here with it being a noob post an all but oh well payin my dues like all noobs do. plans for miata are to lower it, full body coilovers, either Stance, BC, or possibly Koni, haven't decided for sure most likely Diamond Racing wheels, then saving up for DIY turbo, thinking of a small t3/t4 setup with a t28 (or equivalent) right now im driving a gay little Ford Escort zx2 which im actually looking to sell, so if anyone needs a good MPG daily just send me a pm. other than that... Flame and ask away...! |

Different strokes for different folks with your general setup. Your will see that most people on here use either a Gt2554R, GT2560R, GT2860RS or the China turbo equivalent. Figure out you power goals and use the search button a lot.
There is no reason for you to post in anything other than this thread as every question you may have at this point has been covered time and time again. As you progress you may have more specific questions, but for now stick to lurking around. Good luck to you on your build |
drifting is NOT racing.
|
hahaha easy guys
im not blowing up with questions, i just registered so i can have a lot of reading material since im more familiar with s-chassis and various nissans than i am with miata's and ya the t3/t4 thing is what we use on 240's most the time so i figured it was roughly the same but i shall read some point and find out. and ya i know racing and drifting are completely different i meant it in a more general car oriented way? idk lol and as far as power goals, EVENTUALLY i'd like to be at 300 - 350whp but that's going to take a lot of cash and stuff so we'll see what happens |
Did you ever ride in a miata that has over 300whp? You'd shit yourself.
|
haha yes i've ridden in a miata and it wasn't that fast but i've been in plenty of fast cars...
when was shitting yourself in a car looked down upon :/ |
Welcome
I MUST ask though, what is a T3/T4 with a T28 or equivalent? *coolface* |
sideways = gayways

You need to go catch a ride in a fast miata. It will make your choices a lot easier when it comes time for turbo mode. Here is a example. My old setup was a 170whp supercharged setup. I would hang with 280-300hp v8 cars just fine. Now that I have a more boost, 3" exhaust, intake manifold, stand alone...etc,etc...It makes things a lot more fun. Couple the turbo power with some decent driving skills and you have will have more fun that you ever would have sucking dicks in a 240 drifting around. All in good spirits man :giggle: |
Why ruin a car that sucks at drifting by trying to do so when 240's are a dime a dozen and 10x more capable of sliding sideways?
|
Oh hey welcome to the board. Oh sweet monkey jesus! :inout:
|
You aren't going to be happy. You aren't ever going to be happy. Swallow a bunch of pills.

Slide till you die broham |
Idk, trying to keep a Miata straight is a lot funner. Especially in the rain ;)
Welcome to here. Maybe I'll see you at CFRC. |
I think you guys scared him.. You know exactly why miatas are becoming popular with drifters. Cause old ones are cheap and they figure light car, modest hp = cheap fun... next logical step is drifting ... gosh
|
While this guy is obviously retarded, or at least learning, I don't see why you rip on every single drifter who comes through here. I don't drift, nor do I have much desire to, but Jesus, let the guy do what he wants. He came here to learn, not to brag about his mad tyte sidewayz skillz.
That being said, 75% of drifters are stupid dipshit 16 year olds who rip the e-brake out of their driveway to improve their skillz. |

You should look for a Miata L if you are going to try to drift it. They had a slightly longer wheelbase as they were the upscale luxury model. About 3in longer overall if I recall. They also use a little bit longer driveshaft and power plant frame because of this. All of them came with leather seats and Bose audio and all the goodies.
Good luck. |
I thought the L option was only a 98 model year here in the states?
Kind of rare to be sliding sideways, but it would make things easier... |

and holy piss you guys blow up on me more than drift kids do jesus!! alright lemme see if i can cover some stuff, no you didn't scare me off cause i really dont care that much, i just need a lot of reading material as i previously stated. this whole t3/t4 thing is confusing me cause i was simply referencing general turbo sizes... t3/t4 flange and t28 sized turbo, usually a basic type setup at least for sr20's and ka24's. and not many people drift miata's, and the simple fact that 240s are a dime a dozen, cheap and outplayed is why im trying my hand at a miata. i like the platform, i like the first gen. [na] look and they still have a a large amount of aftermarket parts.... er.... what else did you cock suckers flame me for....

er.... what else did you cock suckers flame me for.... All joking aside, I'd definitely go with that 98 L model, especially if you are looking for something other people don't do. They came with a factory fastback, so they look really good too |
Ya know pretty soon it will be impossible for anyone to join this forum because any question asked will just get flamed, I mean this noon is getting flamed by other noobs! That being said flame on.
