Very new to the forum, figured rather than lurking like I normally do I'll try and contribute something useful. However I'm very much not new to Miatas. I've owned 2, done plenty of work on them. Got plenty of mates who own them etc.


Bit about me. I'm UK based so typing miata instead of MX5 was weird. I've currently got a 1993 Eunos Roadster 1.6 (which is the Japanese import version with 116hp) that's sitting on Miester R Zeta CRD coils, stock wheels (the JDM lorbers) and some Goodyear tires. Other than a generic twin exit cat- back she's fairly standard. Currently she's my daily driver but I'm planning on retiring her from that duty soon enough. At which time I'll be installing a 1.8 lump with a TD04 and all the goodies that go along with that. Being an engineer I'm pretty mechanically competent so I'll be doing most of the work myself, and hopefully (with the aid of a Speeduino) most of the tuning as well.


Biggest reason for being on here is to get a bit of knowledge on the more debatable parts of a turbo build, things like gauges and wide band O2 sensors are pretty hotly debated over here so I'll probably be browsing for threads relating to the pros and cons as well as personal experiences of people using different ones. Mostly that kind of thing as well as trying to help people with basic mechanical stuff where I can.

Welcome to the forum. We've got a fair number of Brits here, so you're not alone.

Most sensor issues have to do with power and ground offsets versus the ECU. Getting power and ground (earth, I forgot I was speaking to a Brit) for the O2 sensor from the same or nearby location to where the ECU gets connected helps enormously.

Good luck with your build. The build threads section is a great place to learn what did and didn't work well for others. And it is enjoyable to see the progression of some of the projects.
