Hey everyone!
My name is Josh, from MN. 21 years old, a full time college student and a part time job as a sales rep for T-mobile. I drive 1990 red miata. Bought it around Feb. this year bone stock with 185k miles. I've done the usual maintenance item and compression test tells me I should turbo so that's the route I've decided to take. I've been lurking around pretty much all the forums researching. Last week I decided to order my diypnp and wideband. Assembled the kit in about 5 hours. Heres a picture of it almost done: https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1375505643 I had trouble loading the firmware onto the board on my mac and had to boot up in windowz to load firmware...kinda strange but it worked lol Here it is in my car all hooked up, using tuner studio! (awesome program, well worth the money): https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1375505643 Heres the AEM wideband, works great and super easy to install. I hooked up the the wideband 12v, gnd, and analog directly to ms and routed the widband harness through the transmission tunnel and up behind the radio into the eyeball vent... https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1375505643 I loaded the base map given by diypnp and the car fired up on the first try!...and then stalled right away :facepalm: I still know very little about tuning but I managed to learn enough to adjust my VE table at idle to get it to idle perfect at 850rpm. Also used this to make my closed loop idle perfect: Tuning Idle Valve - Ms2 - Guides: Forced induction - MX5Nutz Forum I've used the autotune feature but it seems to make my table look funny afterwards, I've mainly adjusted the idle and cruise regions, as I've not found a safe place to do WOT logs yet... There's a huge difference between cosmetic lowering, and what you've done to your car. Your shit looks broken. I showed that picture to my wife and her exact words were "What the fuck happened to that car?!" That's pretty damned funny coming from a Japanese woman who barely speaks English.

You know what I love about the Stance crowd? They're the perfect embodiment of sheep mentality.
"I built my car how I like it..." No, You didn't. You built it to be a cookie cutter car to appease whom you perceive to be the "cool" crowd. "But my car is originalllzz1!!1! Raceland/Rokkers slammed to lowest setting: Check. Completely wrong offset knockoff wheels: Check. Stretched tires meant for a smaller rim: Check. Wheels cambered so badly there is no resemblance of good handling left: Check. Garage Vary knockoff lip spoiler: Check. Swag/Stance sticker in center of windshield: Check. Fenders pulled to out to the point of needing major body work when the Stance fad passes: Check. It can't be seen in the picture, but I'd wager that there's a stuffed toy hanging off the rear tow hook as well. You forgot two things though. You need a dildo shift knob and electrical tape on your headlights. Then you can be ORIGINALMADJDMSWAGTYTEYO!!! It's a shame too, because it seemed like a nice car before you mechanically fucked it up. The DIYPNP is a good start, but I don't get why you are even attempting to improve the performance of the car when it has the cornering capability of a freightliner. And don't even try to give us any of that "It handllz gud becuz lowerd!" bullshit. |

The reason I decided to join was to move away from the stance scene and to start autox/track the car like how it's meant to be driven. I wouldn't blow money on a car to make it faster when i can't put the power down on the ground. I've been looking at buying some blistens and having them revalved accompanied by some custom springs. Will also probably pick up a set of 6ul. I'll keep you guys updated!

I have an open mind for all cars. People blow thousands of dollars to have an audio system that end up breaking their windshield. I don't hate on them but it's not something I would do. Everyone spends their money differently. I'm getting out of the stance scene and trying to use the car for what it's meant to to do. I'll probably be what's holding the car back at the track to it's full potential, but hopefully, I'll become better with seat time. I'm not building the car to be competitive because I couldn't care less if I'm last place, to me it's all about having fun. |
MT.net is known for it's knowledge of things that make your car go, stop and turn faster. Most people here are cheap in the sense that they won't spend any more than what it takes to do the above properly.
This place isn't about what you think is cool or fun. Go circle jerk on some other forum for that. BS with us in the BS section, post pictures of cats or hot gf, if you have some cool build stuff make a build thread but don't post shitty stanced photos in it or pictures of you drifting unless you want to get shit on. Post about building your MS, putting a proper suspension on, gathering good parts on the cheap for your turbo build, etc... You're not special, every noob that comes in here with a thread like this get's bashed. It happened to me when I signed up too. How this thread ends is up to you. |
When the car gets finished properly, maybe you guys would appreciate it more from where it started, though i'll always love my car in any stage of its life whether it be stanced or track oriented

Use of that thick skin to disregard sage advice re the stupidity of aforementioned stance: Props off. That's not a bad start. Welcome to the forum. Pay attention and in six months from now your car will actually work better, and you'll likely pull out these stanced pics and bust your own balls. Because maturity. Now go straighten those goddamned wheels out. It looks like somebody stole your springs. |
I have a gut feeling that this kid is going to be a skilled car crafter with good taste to boot. You have to start somewhere. Sometimes you can't help where your roots come from. It is where you end up that counts.

Your attitude seems good, with the exception of defending the stance crap. I would like to see this car turn into something nice.
