Default New guy from PA

Posting live from western PA. I'm Zach and I currently have a 2000 SE miata in mahogany mica. Leather seats, wood wheel, wood center console surround, the works. Its a great car. I bought it in October 2012 with 64,XXX miles on the motor. Took it to my first autocross 2 months later for a Ronald McDonald House charity. I was instantly hooked and it didn't stay stock for long. I didn't have much direction at the time and made some poor choices for modifications for autocross and have been correcting them since.

I completed a half season of autocross in Memphis, and a full season in Pittsburgh last year. I'm gearing up for the 2014 season after taking several evolution schools. I'm hoping to participate in my first national event soon.

The car now runs in STR and is pretty well sorted.
No ABS
No T/C
6spd
3.93 Torsen diff
700F/400R springs w/ ground control sleeves
Revalved Koni sport front/ stock koni yellow rear shocks
RB 1.125" hollow front bar w/ 949 end links/ no rear bar
FCM 36mm bumpstop kit + shock mount kit
ISC Racing FUCA inner delrin offset bushings
Energy suspension bushings
TRM C1m 15x9 wheels + 225/45R15 BFG Rivals
M-tuned rear big rotor caliper bracket + rear sport rotors
Wildwood Dynapro 6-piston calipers + 11" rotors
Carbotech AX6 pads/ Hawk HP+ rear pads
FM catted mid-pipe
Enthuza XR NB exhaust
NB2 exhaust manifold
Custom intake
Miata Roadster short shifter

I'm here because I want to learn about engine management, fueling, how to make a motor as reliable as possible and how to do it all correctly. Since my passion is autocross, its more likely that I'll try supercharging instead, but there isn't a website called just a supercharger.net and the wealth of information on here is massive. Please don't hate me too much.

-Zach

sounds like you have a pretty good start.... a little time on this site, and you will realize the wrong-ness of the stupercharger... but read around, take in all the info you can, and make that decision later. lol

Welcome. Did you do everything at once or in increments? I'd like to know how big of an impact the bushings make in an autocross environment. I've never looked into them too much.

I lived in Jonesboro, AR when I got the miata, but moved back to PA for a different job. I'm originally from philly.

I know the stupidcharger probably isn't the best route to go, but I'm intrigued by the twin-screw units. I'm just researching and reading now.

It was a process. I think first I went to koni sport shocks and mazdaspeed springs, racing beat front bar, the 01+ header, Racing Beat dual exhaust, and 15x8 TRM C3 wheels w/ 205 BFG rivals. Eventually added Hawk HPS pads all around, and decided I wanted to go faster.

From there, I bought the ground control sleeves with 550/325# springs and the bushing kit, and added the support blocks for the front sway bar. I think I had changed maybe 75% of the bushings before I found out that the kit was short and I just drove the rest of the season like that.

Then I decided I wanted to try to go faster, so I ditched the 205 tires, and got the 15x9s with 225s, finished the bushing install, sent my front shocks to truechoice for a revalve to handle 700# springs, bought the 700/450 springs, took off the racing beat dual exhaust and bought the enthuza xr, replaced my battery with a 2lb RC helicopter LiFePo4 battery, gutted my stock seats, and added the front upper inner offset bushings.

I honestly don't know how much difference I made by changing the bushings since my initial grip levels weren't huge to start with. I think it is better than it would have been with the stock rubber bushings at this point. I do like the fact that the poly bushings don't twist like the stock rubber bushings when the suspension flexes (kind of acting as a secondary spring).

Anyway, thanks for the warm welcome! I look forward to learning a lot.
