Default n00b lurk master Fr3$h

Decided to say Hey. Long time lurker. Name is Jeff. From the Dirty South state of Mississippi. Not new to miatas by any means. Have had a few over the years.

Currently own a 99 which is undergoing a turbo 13b swap (Terrible idea by the way)

Also posses this POS stockish Na6 with some lame *** 15x10s stizanced out like fat Oprah on a hoveround.

Sorry for any eye pain that the above has caused.

Well at least you've come to acceptance that stance is gay and 13b swap is retarded.

The 1st step is going from denial to acceptance.

There is hope for you.

I have learned 225s on a 9 is faster than on a 8.

And that Home Depot has the best aftermarket Miata aero selection.

I thank you for your understanding. I picked up the Na to undo what has been done and make a decent track rat out of it.

Ended up selling both of my piles...and picked up this. Now to relocate the horribly placed boost gauge lol.

OP, more info on the setup. At first I thought it might be one of those FM supercharged turds when I read "boost gauge". Thankfully not.

It's a Begi gt2860 setup @10psi tuned on Xede. Very fun, too much fun actually...And now I have a rod peeking out of the block. About to pull the motor and replace with a 09+ longblock with the factory forged bits. Something tells me the "tune" wasn't so spot on.

Yeah pretty much. Had the car almost 24hrs. Got it home checked over everything, made a few 2nd/3rd gear blasts up to 5k just to see how it spooled. Went for a crusie on the highway, dropped to 4th and rolled into the throttle and BOOM! First time I actually put the pedal to the floor in exploded. Not gonna lie I was pretty bummed about it.

What do we know about the new 2.0 Miata motors? Do they have a similar problem with the rods? Do we know what the stock motor will handle before rods or other stuff fails?

Does anyone make upgraded parts like pistons, rods etc? Boosted NCs are not really that common yet...

Ouch. Did the seller tell you the car was tuned and good to go? What standalones are available for NCs? Might want to get your hands on one before the next disaster.

Is there more than a forged crank in the later bottom ends? That's all I've seen mentioned.

There's no way he was anywhere near close to what that motor will take.

This was a case of a bad tune or a mechanical failure elsewhere.

Yeah, it sounds like the PO left him a surprise.

He said it was professionally tuned, did not say where. He didn't install or tune the turbo setup. He had it all professionally done, so I wasn't to worried about a possible backyard hack job.

I was planning on getting my local tuner to take a look at the maps, and do a few dyno pulls to be sure, but I didn't get a chance.

I was under the impression the later 2.0s had a forged crank, forged rods, new/better designed pistons and wrist pins.

It does.

Which is why the PO clearly left you a steaming coiler.
