🍁A French Canadian has landed🍁

Alright, so apparently my first post didn't post so here I am doing it again.

Hello everyone, I'm Captain. I am from Montreal, QC, Canada. Pretty new to the Miata stuff even though I've been reading about them for over a year now. I have a good background with Mazda cars. My first car was a Mazda Protege MPS, I've blown the engine due to a bad thermostat. I won't tell the story, I don't want rocks thrown at me but I've learned so that's the most important step. I currently have a 2018 Mazda 3 GT Premium, a 2009 Mazda RX-8 GS (Sport trim in the US I believe) and last july, I bought myself a 1997 Mazda Miata Speedster Edition. Which is I believe almost the same as a M Edition except the interior. Basically, what it has is a special green color, 1.8, LSD, no A/C, no power windows/mirrors, wood trim for the console, hand brake, Nardi wood shifter etc. So basically, an amazing base for what I'd like to do with my Miata.

Power goal would be around 250WHP. This is gonna be my first big project on a car and my #1 rule in this build is gonna be RELIABILITY. I prefer 200WHP reliable over 250WHP with something that breaks every week. So I'll have to see and deal with the base that I have. I believe the engine is pretty strong, only got a little over 74,000 miles, the frame is in perfect condition, had never seen winter.

So that's pretty much it. Here are some pictures and a video if you are interested. :giggle:

The forum flagged something about your 2 posts and had them hidden. I approved this one and deleted the other.

Welcome. Spend some time reading the stickied threads in each section. Lots of good info in them on how to build reliable power. 200whp will be far cheaper to do reliably then 250whp.

I'm pretty sure I remember that black flame-spitting RX-8 (or at least one very much like it) from ASE maybe 6 or 7 years ago; it was fun to see that one lapping. I was a semi-regular in the red and yellow group for a couple of seasons.

Thank you, for some reasons, everytime I was sending ''Submit thread'' I could see for half a second a message saying something about ''Sent to Moderators for reviewing'' but the page was disappearing as soon so I couldn't see what it was written.
Money isn't really the problem here. I am sure on kind of a budget but it's a build that is going to be built over the years. I'll sure get all my turbo parts together but for the rest, it's gonna be one piece at a time. No rush. I really like to build my cars part after part and feel every differences any added part does to the car.

Well, I have my exhaust from last summer so it's not me for sure. Haha. I've never actually went lapping with the RX8. It's a car that is too much important for some personal reasons to risk crashing it in a wall. This is exactly why I've bought a Miata.

Welcome to the site! I understand the Mazda bug my 1st car was an RX7. Last couple years I’ve been building a FWD ‘B series’ (MX3) and I still find this site to be one of the most helpful out there, especially when it comes to tuning

Thank you for your greetings. I've found multiple information here as of now. :) Very happy. Will continue to inform myself as well as contributing to the forum as much as I can. :D
