Hey! My name is Andy. I'm 26, live in Boca Raton, FL, and love to drive my 10AE. Hard. And I'm sure you would too.

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1391566620

It has a decent list of goodies so far:
-Tokiko Illumina 5 way adjustable shocks
-FM lowering springs
-Bridgestone RE11 P205/45R17's on Konig wheels
-Hawk HP Plus pads w/ Powerslot rotors
-Stainless steel braided brakes lines
-Willwood proportioning valve
-FM Front sway bar, removed rear sway
-Shorty intake
-2001 header
-Roadster Sport exhaust
-37mm Koyo radiator
-Hard Dog Deuce Roll bar
-FM frame rails w/ butterfly brace
-ACT Stage 1 clutch w/ Prolite Flywheel
-Voodoo shift knob
-Mobil 1 Full Syn in the engine and diff, Motorcraft Full Syn ATF in trans
-145k miles

I love to push this car to its limits, when I can safely of course. But it does leave much to be desired in terms of POWER! Which is precisely why I have joined this group.

Near future plans: Megasquirt! MS2E? MS3 basic? Not sure yet, may need your help here...

Distant future plans: Turbo of course! 200ish rwhp, give or take. I have never gotten involved with F.I. so there is much to be learned on this subject, but we can talk about that later...

My other vehicle is an 04 Tahoe Z71.

22's, dropped 4", bangin audio system, etc... I love her, but she doesn't get much attention now that I have the roadster.

I live in the best climate in the country (IMHO), South Florida. I like to go fishing, kayaking, boating, drivin with the top down (everyday), taking the dog out to the parks, go to the shooting range...ya know, dude stuff.

I work at a big chain tire and service center, have been for 5 years. I went to Southern Illinois University @ Carbondale, IL and graduated with a BS in Automotive Technology. (really wish they taught us more about forced induction right about now...) I have a pretty good grasp on how these animals work, but do lack knowledge in the power/engine management department, which I plan on correcting here.

Well, that's me in a nutshell! I'm glad to have found this flowing fountain of information here, and look forward to being schooled by most of you!

Thanks,
Andy

Welcome to the forums. Seem to have an inkling as to what you're up to.

The 10AE is an excellent platform for boost, one of the best IMO. Put some properly-sized wheels and tires on it and you'll be better off for sure.

Looks like fun!

Think so? I like the looks of the 17's, they perform well for me too. I also just bought the tires as well lol. The rims do have some curb rash (not from me of course) and one rim is slightly bent, so one day they will be replaced... but funds for this car are definately allocated to power mods for now lol.

No question.

I'll have to do some research on that... I have noticed that the most common rim size is 15" for these little cars, and I'm sure there are resons why.

turbofan 02-04-2014 09:52 PM

If you're shooting for the same overall diameter, a smaller wheel with larger tire will be lighter than a larger wheel and smaller tire. Especially on a car so small and light, unsprung weight is a big deal. Do you know what your current wheels weigh? Because it's common to be at or under 13 pounds per wheel on a 15x8. I bet you'd notice a HUGE difference, particularly if you drive the car hard. The ride, handling, acceleration and braking will all improve -- even more, if you put good tires on it (don't know what you're currently running).

not trying to rag on ya, just pointing it out. You know: function and all that.

Mech5700 02-04-2014 09:56 PM

I don't know the exact weight, but I was surprised at how light they were when I put the tires on. (Bridgestone RE11's)

Aaaah, Boca Ratón. The Rat's Mouth.

Former Floridian here, now enjoying the frigid north Atlantic coast. I'll take 5 degrees and 12 inches of snow over those fucking palmetto bugs any day...

But welcome aboard. :D

Mech5700 02-04-2014 10:48 PM

Maaaan, i hate those things! I do enjoy smacking them with a shoe and hearing them pop tho!

There seems to be a disturbing lack of Cats in this thread.

Why thank you, diesel. It gets compliments all the time!

You seem to have an irrational love for wheels that are too big.

Welcome!

Welcome!

That may be possible, however, the PO had put the 17's on there...

But thank you!

An acceptable answer if you hadn't posted your truck. :giggle:
