Gooday from Australia!

I'd like to say hello to everyone here on miataturbo, I've been lurking the forums for a quite a bit of time on and off really, but after making the decision to keep my 1995 mazda miata NA8, I've decided to take it down the turbo path, reading the information on these forums has definitely given me the interest to follow this path and I appreciate what I learn along the way, I've registered and decided to introduce myself so I can get more info on what parts to collect and install etc.

So far my mx5 I've serviced all fluids except brake and clutch, changed water pump belts and bearings, got a 42mm radiator that contained heaps more coolant, planning on changing all the radiator hoses as the previous owner hasn't been taking care of the cooling as when i first flushed the system it was dirt brown :eek5:, and got some shiny new stainless steel extractors, plus a xforce cat back system, and changed the air filter to a shielded coned filter, and changed the timing to 14 degrees btdc other than its stock.

So far the first thing I'm thinking about doing is buying a diypnp plus wide band sensor and a IAT of course, the only thing I'm not sure about is where to bung the IAT on the stock piping? I was thinking drill a hole in the snorkel and bung it in there and glue it or something.

After I've installed the diypnp and everything else that goes with it i guess without blowing anything up is to go down the BEGI Shanghai-S Turbo system with the intercooler setup, I've read most posts about the system and there hasn't been too many good things about it but I think other than the turbo everything else that comes with it seems ok, I think its a good place to start with a little bit of boost as I don't plan on upgrading any injectors clutch or diff at this point in time, so since I'm being total budget on my plans what does everyone think? I know there are other options but not sure on what to collect, what turbo goes with what manifold where, the whole process sounds draining so I decided on this kit for now.

Welcome to the forum. You don't want to have the IAT sensor immediately behind the radiator if you can avoid it. It ends up getting heat soaked and giving incorrect data to the mega squirt.

Thanks for sending me a reply for a sec there I thought nobody gave a crap that I wrote all that up, with the stock maf I'll be able to run the diypnp? If so I recon it's a good start thank you, I'll still get the wide band to get a better tune we will see, I didn't quite understand what you meant wouldn't the sensor sit around there anyway so it would get heat soaked either way wouldn't it?

Usually on a turbo car, the IAT is placed after the intercooler but before the pipe enters the engine compartment. The MAF is a hindrance to making power. Consider dropping an inlet pipe and filter around to the front side of the radiator in such a way that you prevent heat soak and can use it later to plumb into the outlet side of the intercooler.

I'll try and think of something in the mean time not sure how I'm going to do it but I'll come up with something, but for the time being say I had the megasquirt in can I run the car with the maf? And later on down the track install the iat with my turbo kit??

And thank you to everyone else for the kind replies!! and brainiac you are the man!! You know your shit Haha

I'm working in Queensland but my miata is currently living in Victoria where I go on the weekends to work on it!
