Greeting from Germany

Hey everybody

My name is Domenik, living in germany and owner of a Mazda MX-5 1.6l build in 2000 with around 90k km (thats 56k miles for those who like to think imperial). Very nice car, lots of driving fun since it's so light. Riding motorcycles (Suzuki RF600) and finishing on my PhD in physics - so any way to save money and procrastinate is welcomed :D

Quickly read through your community, found it interesting and informative - so here I am, registered to honor your knowledge base and participate and benefit.

Stay tuned.

If I used smartphones or owned a camera, sure - but unfortunately i don't ;)
If u are really interested in a stock silver MX-5 picture roadster image i am going to rent a camera somewhere :)

EDIT: killed typos

Getting PhD in physics... does not own a smartphone. I like this guy.

Yeah only a bit tedious if I get into trouble - asking people to call someone always makes them think I want to steal their phones. They look like I came from another planet.
But I think the same way - always looking on their displays or just standing around and staring.
Like Smart-Zombies eating Brains ... ährm ... batteries :D

Welcome to The Forum. I like your style. What part of Germany are you from? I used to live in Augsburg.

der_vierte 09-02-2017 04:42 AM

another german noob here! own a smartphone, but only to read miataturbo all day long

@sixshooter: munic and augsburg are only 50 miles apart...

getarun 09-02-2017 04:47 AM

@sixshooter: And then moved to florida? Maybe not the worst choice ;)
@der_vierte: Kalle, are you from southern germany?

der_vierte 09-02-2017 04:58 AM

love the south and the alps, but i live in paderborn, nrw...

sixshooter 09-02-2017 07:53 AM

I lived there for 2 years when I was 16-18 years old. Yes, Munich was a short 40 minute train ride away. But Augsburg was big enough to find something to do most of the time. I've been back a few times and still enjoy the area quite a bit.

Hehe, so an extended exchange year in germany -- to taste some culture (beer)?
Correct me if I'm (likely) wrong - never saw 16/17/18 yo boys puke so fast as u americans (pardon: those 3 americans I saw during school) do ... like its a 0/1 switch for either beeing sober or drunk as hell ...

No offense though but personally I would be more careful if I never tasted alcohol before :)

I went to Oktoberfest in Munich by train once with a buddy and a few girls. Toward the end of the day we were in a beer tent that was pretty full and had been offered the opportunity to sit at a table with a small group of German army recruits. The recruits kept pushing beers to me and toasting to encourage my drinking to wipe me out so they could get with the girls. At age 16 I was unprepared and had to be carried to the train. Lesson learned. I have not been as drunk before or since.

I drink so much now I have a pretty strong liver from all of its daily training.

Ough, f*ck them! Stupid twerps. Making somebody drunk to achieve bad plans success. :vash:

Hm, maybe not the best choice - maybe I don't get the fun part of it - drive responsible.
Don't want to hit somebody, even it is "only" a little 2200lb-metal-cage. :bang:

sixshooter 09-02-2017 03:01 PM

Oh, I'm not trying to drink and drive. I just mean generally speaking because I drink a few every single night and I'm better prepared than I was when I was just a kid

getarun 09-02-2017 03:18 PM

He, that's for sure - with great (liver) power comes great responsibility: So try not not to fool youngsters and take their girls :brain:
Remember my first drunk state. No, it was not the chair that changed the angle to the ground ... it was me :D
