Greetings from space

Not really from space.. But my friends think im from there, since i love my Miata and most other Miatas that i've seen. Which brings me here!! So my name is kody and i have had a bone stock 2003 NB miata for almost 2 years now "65k Mi". (Pics up here), i currently work on base in warner robins and would like to meet the local club. long have i dreamed of going fast and having a turbo so i can save my breath, while my car whistles at the ladies for me when i shift. All joking aside though, my priority is to get a street turbo set up, i've lurked here and other forums for about 7 to 9 months now and its high time that i become part of some kind of online community. I decided this for fear that i am one of the most lurky lurkers to ever lurk the internet any where. So if i mess up etiquette, please tell me. i do have questions about my particular vehicle and i do have a somewhat realistic build plan. Message me or what ever it is we do here if you want to know more. For now, ill go back to what i do best, lurking for the answers i so desperately want

Thanks guys

... i should probably wash this car

oh yeah, i have had some moderate mechanical experience, nothing too cool or crazy. there is a shop with a lift on base here i can use, as long as i bring my own tools. i have like a 90 piece set "old and missing pieces"

Is that an aftermarket cruise control?

Or was the factory one relocated? weird

OP, get new friends, no one needs that kind of negativity in their lives.

thanks guys, Brak is still an ass hole trying to fit in, so it business as ususal. As for the cruise control... Honestly, i couldn't tell you. i got this car from a dealership in Florida and it was a garage queen before they got it. it does not particularly work since the cable that holds it to the throttle slips off after you disengage it. It has never really bothered me so i haven't looked into it. here is a pic from the inside, its the lever beneath the lights and windshield wiper lever. Now i have more research to!

ps: dont mind the mess

oh yeah, that silver handle is not part of the car, its a torque wrench, just in case someone wants to try my life and get their own face torqued off.. to specification of course

That's definitely aftermarket cruise (either that or it was fitted with hand controls or something) The lower wand on the left side of the wheel is unlike anything I've ever seen in a Miata before, and the Mazda CC unit is round and bolted to the fender, not square and strapped to the shock tower brace. The Mazda cruise control is done with a knob on the end of the wiper wand.

I have that same POS cruise control on a subaru I bought used.

Welcome to the forum. Are you Air Force or just working on base? I just sold my place up north of Macon a few months ago.

Street turbo is tough if it is your only transportation. When you have a backup, it's ok.

Lots to be learned reading the sticky threads and reading build threads to see what works and what doesn't. Build threads also give you an idea of the personalities here on the forum. We are mostly very hands-on do it yourself guys. Lots of engineers, several military, and many of us do track days on road courses. I do Road Atlanta, Sebring, Daytona, etc.

yeah i feel kinda stupid looking at the cruise control module now, they did a pretty hatchet job of taping it to the sway bar, i might just relocate it, since it wants to work with the exception of the cable coming off the throttle body

And thanks for asking Sixshooter, i'm currently a SrA (E-4) , active duty. Personally i cant help but feel a little trapped in this town though. I do know it could be worse for sure. I still long to go to Macdill so i can be closer to home, im originally from the brandon/valrico area. You might know where im talking about.

I have also done some poking around and you guys have struck me as very knowledgable individuals, I'll go out of my way to not be a nuisance. These past 2 month im almost always on the forums in between calls and trouble tickets. It kinda seems like i wake up every morning and think i have a really good idea on how to go about my project.. but then read the forums and find out i'm a jackass chasing a pipe dream. my biggest concern is fuel management and how that will handle VVT. Im currently looking at the voodoo 2 solution as long as VVT is supported. Then when im not as poor and have the cooling and the hard parts installed, i can really dive deep into understanding MS2 or MS3 and get some injectors. that is very far down the line though. i chose voodoo2 (for now) so i can do it my self quick amount of time.

I have that exact cruise control widget in my NA.
It doesn't work.

AFSC?

sixshooter 11-09-2016 12:42 PM

Avoid the doodoo box.

My parents live in South Brandon and I live in Plant City and work in the Tampa area. My father was at Centcom.

[QUOTE=gesso][/AFSC?]

its 3d1x1, in other word client systems tech. experienced in most IT platforms but master of none is what i used to hear in tech school. but i have plans to switch it up a little.

ill do my best but its looking like the most affordable option with the least heart ache at the moment. im still on the fence and researching when i have the time. VVT management is the biggest concern i have at the moment so i emailed FM to see if voodoo even has the capability to compensate for that

other than that, its really cool to know people are from or at least residing in my home town. not sure if you are familiar but i graduated from bloomingdale, and that area is pretty much were i grew up. im not too familiar with Centcom though. i would imagine thats a pretty far drive to work too, even on I-4
