Greetings from sunny California

Ive been a long time lurker on these boards and finally decide to make an account! My name is Tyler, and I come from Santa Barbara, CA. My first Miata was an '03 NB. I did some basic mods such as some coilovers, wheels, and basic normally aspirated mods. My plan was to eventually go turbo, but my go-fast dreams were killed when a long commute and a girlfriend with a kid (Not mine) prompted me to get something that was reliable, and had a rear seat for a car seat.

Eventually that ship sailed, and I was stuck with a boring '16 Mazda3 commuter. With no anchor weighing me down, I took a dive into an $800 project 1990 NA. I always liked the pop ups anyways! Ive had this current Miata for about a year, and it has made quite a nice change from some kids daily to my weekend no frills car. In the meantime, I also found a new Girlfriend (No kids! :winner:) Believe it or not, she actually likes taking it out...the Miata, that is. And she even wrenches on it with me from time to time! Now, by no frills, I literally mean no frills. It has always been my dream to have a everything you need, nothing you dont Miata. And that is what I have now. Gutted interior. No heater. No ac. Switches, switches everywhere. The only music I need is the wind and exhaust. And a properly depowered steering rack as my gym membership. My plan is to to turbo, and I have already amassed some of the parts (MS2, 420cc RX8 injectors, Wideband, Intercooler) This will be going on my 1.6 shortnose, so I know that a longnose swap will be in my immediate future. Im looking forward to joining this community.

I used to think like that, had a stripped race subaru that I daily drove for 3 years. Anything above 2 hour of driving sucked so hard.

Now I have days where I'm driving for over 12 hours, and I sleep in the car (miata) a few times per week. I cant imagine not having interior or radio.

A properly depowered rack wont be difficult to turn, just fyi, unless you have muscular dystrophy.

Oh yeah, and welcome. :)

I think I would rather just end it all if I was to daily this thing. So I guess my boring commuter does have a purpose in life. And I wouldn't say its difficult, but parallel parking in my town can be...daunting from time to time. But dont listen to me, at 6'4", im pushing 160lbs.
