Hi. my name is Hadyn and i am from cleveland ohio. i won't lie i have been a super big aircooled and corrado vw guy for about the last decade or so(absolutely love the 12v vr6 motor).
My grandfather passed a couple years ago and left me his 91 miata that was in the process of getting setup for stock car racing. sight unseen i drove 1300 miles to get to the car.

this thing has been sitting 10= years and has surely developed some lot rot.
https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1402950193
drained the gas from the tank and botched up injectors from sitting.

refilled the fire suppression system.

and how it currently sits.

i have absolutely no idea what i am going to use this car for. but...... i do know it is a blast to drive. i hope to learn a lot from you guys.

Wow. There's a lot of work to be done to that car. Judging by the cage and fire system, he meant business.

In for potential awesomeness.

Holy crap, thats fuel? I think you've got more than just injectors to clean.

Welcome. Looks like a perfect car for doing track days. What's the suspension set up? Looks stock-ish.... which is good for a cheap, minimum hassle track car. Modding is a slippery slope.

That's entirely possible. i have a few kicking around under the workbench. i'd have to spend some time figuring out which would work best. just don't wanna buy another one.

yes that is 10+ year old gas. it actually still burns. i'm sure the conbustible properties have long since gone but it was still good for starting bonfires. and yes i did have to replace more than just injectors. i drained the tank, replaced the filter, blew the lines out front to back, pump, strainer...i think the crap in the tank has ruined a second set of injectors now as it seems flooded when i go to start it.

it has eibach front and rear sways with adjustable links. bilstein struts with what appears to be an eibach coil-over sleeve setup. it's weird because there seem to be lower perches below the locking collars on the sleeves. i am out of town till friday and can snap some pictures once i am back. i would like to lower it a bit more.....

I have a feeling you are going to need to disassemble and clean every component in the fuel system, the filter is only protecting you from what's in the tank. Everything between the filter and injectors (hard fuel line, rubber hoses, fuel rail, etc) is still questionable. I just did this with a friend when we resurrected a 1960's vintage VW bug that had been sitting for the last 2-3 decades ;)

Its going to be an uphill battle, but these cars are so simple that with some searching and guided discovery, you should have no problem getting it running again. Good luck man!

Looks rust free. That's a huge plus as you know. Cleveland winters aren't kind. From the mold, I'm guessing you drove 1300 miles straight South? Hardtop and bolt-in cage, looks ideal for track days.

Welcome to the forum.

That isn't a competition cage but will do nicely for open trackdays at the local road course. It sounds like the shocks and sways are the Spec Miata arrangement, so you might be ready to go in that regard. Look for stamped numbers on the body of one of the shocks and we can look it up.

It was in Florida about 45min north of Tampa. Previously a Chicago car there most definitely is rust. The rockers are blown out in the usual places and the doors are rotten behind the window seal and at the bottoms.
