Hello all

Hi, my name is Trent i live in boring Olathe, KS. I drive a '90 1.6L with an exhaust an intake for now. I plan on building and boosting another 1.6 this summer not sure which turbo setup i will run yet though. Any other turbo miatas in the KCMO area?!?

Hey Trent; welcome to the forum. Nice job on your first post! :bigtu:

You included your location below your Avatar and even a pic of your car!

I suggest you read the FAQs and get informed and then start posting your questions.

Now; how about some bigger pics of your car?

SiezeDDay 06-10-2008 09:08 AM

thanks haha i though it would be bigger but it turned out a little small :noob:

Boosting another? Meaning you have what setup now? What would you like to get out of this form? or just a place to BS and chat with other miatas?

SiezeDDay 06-10-2008 10:40 PM

sorry, i meant it to read like i have a another 1.6l engine sitting in my garage that i am going to rebuild. the engine in it now is starting to poop out. It is bone stock besides a nice air filter and exhaust. I am just looking for advice and tips on the best way to go about turbo-ing my car and i like to listen to people that know more than i do on the subject and learn what i can from them so i know how to do it the right way later.

highroller101 06-11-2008 12:26 AM

ok, sounds good. What are your power goals? Budget? Time limits?

SiezeDDay 06-11-2008 12:53 PM

i would really like to have at least 220+ HP My budget is a little limited but considering i don't really have a time limit it all depends on how much money i can save up.

highroller101 06-12-2008 04:00 AM

If you have a limited budget your best bet is probably a prefabed kit. Begi sells good products, and also FlyinMiata is a great place to start poking around. If your on a limited budget you can pick up a Megasquirt engine management for pretty cheap. PS are you looking for 220HP or 220whp? Huge difference. Begi sells a kit that gives 140whp @5psi.. that can be easily turned up. I am running a DIY setup and I would only recommend it if you want to spend a lot of time shopping around, but get a big return on HP. If you can come up with a few grand go to FlyinMiata.com and look at their tubo kits with included ECU packages. PS what are you going to use the car for? DD, Street racing, autox, road track, drag racing? Hopefully not to drift :)

SiezeDDay 06-12-2008 02:54 PM

I like the FM kits with the ecus, and BEGi. I am actually reading Corkey Bell's book Maximum Boost to learn all i can. But i will probably do a prefabbed kit. I don't want to drown myself in too much work being a newb and all :noob: It will be mostly for the street and maybe some runs at autox or similar probably not drift. Although i will be needing LSD maybe some Torsen from a 94-97 if i can find a donor around my neck of the woods...

highroller101 06-12-2008 08:44 PM

if you can find a 94-99 donor keep the rear end and build a 1.8L motor. 220hp is a lot cheaper on a 1.8L

SiezeDDay 06-13-2008 01:46 AM

Yea i was searching around for a 1.8L. That is a very simple swap is it not?

highroller101 06-13-2008 02:08 AM

yes it is. I think that FM sells a kit for the conversion for 100 bucks

SiezeDDay 06-13-2008 12:50 PM

i might look into that
