Hello all!
Hi all,
My name's Jason and I think I'm a miata addict! I do HPDE days (mostly in Florida), been to Sebring, Homestead, PBIR, and improving my driving skills is my major focus. I used to own a 1991 with a rotary turbo engine, boy that was fun! I learned a lot about aftermarket ECU's, engine tuning, and suspension setup from that car, not nearly as much as many people on this forum, but still a good start. Over the last 4 years I've driven a honda accord, G35, Mazdaspeed Protege, and the miata above at HPDE days, and my interest usually extends my budget! The miata has been by far the most fun. Anyways, nice to meet you all, hopefully I can learn and share technical skills on this forum. Sometime soon I'd like to eventually get back into a well done turbo miata and hit the track again. |
Welcome. Any pics of your car?

Here are a few pics of the old girl in her glory days, such a beauty. She's gone now but is sorely missed, had a lightweight flywheel and 1st gear was pretty much useless.

Cute first post. I like your enthusiasm. Seriously.
Are you shopping for a miata right now? NA or NB? |
Well I'd probably be lying if I said I wasn't looking for a turbo miata... I'm still doing some research to figure out what exactly I'm looking for.
Mainly I'm looking for an HPDE car that is reliable, has about 220-240whp, and hopefully has A/C (Florida is hot 8 months out of the year), and most importantly is tuned well and conservatively (i.e. dyno tuned, knock sensors retard timing, EGT, AFRs in appropriate range, boost at the lowest level needed to make these numbers, possible limp mode if something goes wrong, etc). So, like Hustler since I want to drive to the track, run all day, and drive home in A/C comfort. :) You can't underestimate the appreciation of A/C after an all-day run at Homestead then have to drive back 5 hours in stop and go traffic through Miami in a semi-heat soaked car. So I'm looking at stock vs. built engine, fuel system needed to support, cooling system and coolant reroute, EMS used (something parallel with the stock would be preferable due to ease of complicity), etc. Something to survive the next 5 years of track abuse and up to 60 minute runs without overloading the cooling system. I'm keeping an open mind since the main idea is HPDE fun and reliability. Still doing forum research, etc. |
