Hello from Birmingham, Alabama!

So glad to be here. Someone from reddit.com/r/miata sent me this way, and after doing some digging around this community seems pretty awesome.

I am a college student living in Birmingham, AL. Been saving every bit of cash I can to put myself through school. I had been fixing and building cars in my spare time, but I very recently sold everything in an attempt to move back to Tuscaloosa, AL. I sold everything but my motorcycle, but I still needed a car.. After some digging on craigslist I found a home-brew turbo 97. The PO had pawned the title and just wanted to get out of debt.. So I went with him, cash in hand to the title pawn, paid them $2,607, and he handed me the keys. Nice.

Car runs, but rough. Has a chinese T3/T4 turbo, 2.25'' downpipe, XSPOWER Wastegate, MegaSquirt PNP EFM, and 'oversized injectors'. Took her to my local dyno shop, and the car is currently at 18-1 air/fuel and 16-1 at full boost (~7psi). After discovering this I have been babying it and not getting into boost. My cable for the my MSPNP just came in today, and after I get done with some work around the house I will upload a base map and go from there. I have never tuned a car and I know very little about aftermarket fuel management/ forced induction. Just trying to take baby steps and not f%$# up my new car. Once I get the base map loaded I will most likely turn to you guys for suggestions and tips. Again, glad to be here!

Tim, this is Steve down here in Butler. I have a 95 NA that I just installed a 03 VVT. Just about to install my DIYPNP and VVTuner to get it running. Maybe we can talk tunes some. I have never set one up before and like you taking it slow. I can't afford to melt any pistons right now. Maybe we can have a turbo verses na some day. Glad you are here.

95 NA, VVT 6 speed
